Project Description
In partnership with Catholic Relief Services, Caritas Arua is launching a 10-month project to enable 2,178 refugee and host community women and men living in Yumbe District to increase livelihood opportunities and economic resilience. Caritas Arua will achieve this through the facilitation of vocational, agri-business and entrepreneurship skills training and deepening; business coaching; and through linkages to the financial and social security of savings and internal lending communities (SILC). CRS and Caritas Arua will enhance the entrepreneurial skills of all project participants through the piloting of CRS’ new Business Skills Training designed specifically for emergency and early recovery populations. The objective of the project is that refugee and host community women and men in Yumbe District increase their income through employment or the establishment of micro-enterprises. The project will achieve this objective through the two interim results of (I.R. 1) refugee and host community women and men start a micro-enterprise or gain employment and (IR 1.2) refugee and host community women and men invest financial capital in their livelihoods. Through this project, participants will have learned new marketable and profitable skills as well as gained formal certification which will allow them to generate more income as micro-entrepreneurs or obtain employment. Participation in SILC groups will allow these same project participants to invest their money safely and wisely in lucrative investments or social safety nets.
Roles and Key Responsibilities
• Participate in conducting quick assessment of viable business in the local economy. Support the CRS Livelihoods team in facilitating CRS’ New Business Skills training modules which will guide participants in innovative decision-making towards economic recovery, livelihood stabilization, and improvement of business operations and activities
• Provide daily guidance to participants in using practical tools and habits to track and monitor the progress of their business activities.
• Guide and support participants in developing viable business plans to apply for micro-grants or loans to start their businesses
• Guide and support project participants throughout the grant application and selection process
• Participate in selection of project’s participants based on set criteria

• Mentor successful grant applicants through conducting one-hour, weekly coaching sessions with each business (20 groups per mentor) from business idea to maturity
over an average period of four months
• Create linkages to these entrepreneurs with other business service providers
• Work with project participants to ensure they keep organized records and accounts, integrate into the local market, and begin to turn a profit by the end of the project.
• Provide mentoring supports to lead farmers who are acting as micro-entrepreneurs in delivering agriculture extension services to ensure successful development of their micro-enterprise
• Support the selection and training of Local group facilitators in SILC methodology for them to assist and guide the SILC groups
• Assess the competency of Field Agents and certify successful individuals as PSPs
• Ensure that implementation of activities Do-No-Harm to persons of concern/ beneficiaries at the point of delivery

Basic qualifications and requirements
• Bachelor's degree (preferably in Finance/ business related field)
• 5+ year experience in respective workstream, with deep understanding of Enterprise Development in post emergency and recovery contexts.
• Knowledge of data process modeling, business process design, and business operating procedures.
• Strong written and verbal communication.
• Strong analytical, planning, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
• Knowledge of local language of project’s participants is desirable
