Job details:
In 1995, Epicentre created a permanent research ‘center in Uganda to support MSF projects ln the region. The primary role of Epicentre in Mbarara is to conduct clinical research following Good Clinical Practice (GCP) requirements on critical public health burdens in Uganda and Africa. To reach this objective, Epicentre collaborates closely with the Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST). A full-time experienced research team is based at the Epicentre Mbarara Research Center.

The Mbarara research center is located in Mbarara Municipality, 300 km South-West to Kampala. The main health facility is Mbarara National Referral Hospital which is also a teaching hospital for the MUST. This is the referral hospital for the Western region of Uganda with a capacity of 240 beds, The research center is structured into several departments: administration, logistics, laboratory, data management.

2 Study Medical Doctors
Location: MSF/Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre in (EMRC), Uganda.
Reports to: The Principal investigator (Pl) of the study he/she will be involved in and the Director of MSF/Epicentre Mbarara Research Centre.
Duration; 1 year, renewable

General responsibilities (not exhaustive)

  •  Administer informed consent to persons willing to participate in the study and register patients included in the study and complete the clinical assessment of the patients at inclusion.
  • Clinical management and referral and follow up of sick participants during interim and routine follow up visits.
  • To ensure accurate ‘completion of study documents including logs and case report form (CRF) in accordance to GCP at enrollment and during the follow-up.
  •  To support the PIs in the implementation of the studies and ensuring that procedures are followed according to protocol
  • To validate all inclusions in the studies and ensure that all clinical and biological testing required by the study have been done at inclusion and during the follow-up,
  • To take up any other tasks as required by the Pl and the MSF/Epicentre Director.

Qualification:

  • Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB,)
  •  Full registration with the Uganda Medical and dental Practitioners’ Council (UMDPC), current practicing license.
  •  Previous experience in clinical research preferred.
  • Fluent in English and Runyankore, spoken and written
  • Competencies: teamwork, flexibility, commitment and service, knowledge of MS Office.
