Job details:
The AIDS Support Organization (TASO Uganda), was founded to contribute to the process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of Life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease. TASO has received a 5-year CDC-PEPFAR Grant to implement accelerated HIV/AIDS epidemic control activities through a Health Systems Strengthening approach in Soroti Region, covering B districts oi Soroti, Kaberamaido (Cluster 1), Katakwi, Amuria (Cluster 2), Serere, Kumi, Bukedea and Ngora (Cluster 3). in addiuon, TASO will be implementing accelerated HIV/AIDS epidemic control activities through a Health Systems Strengthening approach in Masaka and Kalungu districts, as a Sub-recipient under the Masaka Region Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) Consortium funded by PEPFAR through CDC. in pursuit of such intentions, TASO invites applications from qualified, dedicated‘ competent, innovative and results-oriented persons for employment on a contract basis for the posts below;

JOB TITLE - REF: TS/HR/SORP- 01: CLUSTER ACCOUNTANTS (03 POSTS)
Classification : Contract full-time
Reporting to : ClusterTeam Leader and functionally to the Finance Manager
Supervises : Accounts Assistants
Salary: Commensurate with training and experience
Duty station : Katakwi, Kumi and Masaka

Main Purpose of the Job
The primary task of the Accountant shall be to prepare and examine financial records. They will make sure that records are accurate and that taxes are paid properly and on time. The Accountant shall perform overviews of the financial operations oi the project at Cluster level in order to help it run efficiently. The Accountant shall also provide technical assistance to the sub-grantees at various levels to ensure strict adherence to financial regulations; timely retiring of accountabilities before other disbursements are made.

Key Outputs:

• Financial statements examined to ensure accuracy
  
• Ensure that statements and records comply with laws and regulations
  
• Taxes owed computed. tax returns prepares. prompt payment oi stall; sub-grantees and service providers
  
• Account books inspected and accounting systems kept up to date
  
• Financial records organized and maintained
  
• Ways to reduce costs, and ensure program quality and efficiency suggested
  
• Auditing services for sub-grantees to ensure compliance with donor requirements provided

Minimum Academic Qualifications

• A Bachelor oi Commerce degree, majoring in Accounting and Finance.
  
• Level II CPA! ACCA will be an added advantage
  
• Experience working in PEPFAR or USG-funded organizations is highly desirable

Required Experience and Skills: At least 2 years‘ experience in financial accounting in a busy PEPFAR or USG~funded organization. Experience in applications of the NAVISION Accounting Software and excellent computer skills-MS EXCEL, MS Word, Power point and MS Outlook
