Abt Associates is an international development firm composed of dedicated professionals providing technical assistance, research analysis, and practical training services in more than 40 countries worldwide. Abt Associates is implementing the five year Uganda Voucher Plus Activity (in its second year) which is increasing access to safe motherhood services in private facilities in Northern and Eastern Uganda by engaging private providers in contracts to provide quality safe motherhood services to qualified impoverished women presenting a voucher purchased in communities. Abt Associates is seeking qualified candidates for the following positions to begin immediately upon selection:

4 Regional Continuous Quality Improvement Mentor Midwives ( two in East and two in northern region)
Locations: Gulu,Lira,Soroti & Mbale

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Clinical Quality Assurance Manager, she will provide clinical mentorship and technical support supervision of RMNCH activities in accredited Private Health Facilities in line with MoH policy for CQI in MNCH.

Key qualifications:

  • A diploma in midwifery from a recognized institution
  • A degree in nursing (reproductive health) or public health & population or its equivalent preferred.
  • Must be registered with the relevant professional body with a valid practicing license
  • 3 years of experience in Quality improvement approaches and training clinical service providers on maternal & reproductive health programs/projects (with a focus on Emergency obstetric care, FP and EMTGT/EID/HGT) with a reputable international NGO ‘
  •  Experience working with private health providers and District local governments is desired
  •  A Trainer of Trainers in components of safe motherhood services {with solid working knowledge and practical skills) in the following areas: Emergency Obstetric care, comprehensive FP, EMTGT and other sexual reproductive health issues
  • Prior experience in mentorship/coaching, facilitative support supervision and use of Collaborative approaches in QI would be desired"
  •  Advanced written, presentation, and communication skills in English
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively in the region
  • Understanding of Eastern or Northern Ugandan dialects (desirable)
  •  Must be Ugandan national
  • Must be dynamic, self-motivated/self-driven, able to demonstrate high initiative with minimal supervision
