Youth Alive Uganda is a Consortium Partner on USAID’s BEITER OUTCOMES for Children and Youth in Eastern and Northern Uganda. The goal of the project is to improve the wellbeing of Children and Youth orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV and other adversities in Eastern and Northern Uganda. BETTER OUTCOMES is implemented by a consortium of five partners, namely: World Education Inc./Bantwana (WEI/B) as the prime partner; Mercy Corps, Uganda Women's Efforts to Save Orphans (UWESO), Youth Alive and Friends of Christ Revival (FOC-REV); each responsible for specific technical aspects of the project. The project is being implemented in 20 districts.

As an equal opportunity employer, Youth Alive is seeking to hire inspire individuals with passion and skills to implement innovative children adolescents/youth integrated development solutions under the USAID BETTER OUTCOMES for youth and children in Eastern & Northern Uganda project in the position of:

TITLE: 5 Youth Officers -YAU006/17 (3-Lira, 2-Jinja)

These positions report to the respective Youth Coordinators and main object of the role is to take the technical lead in planning and implementing technical assistance (Training, Mentorship, and Monitoring) to CSO's structures implementing youth platform interventions ofthe project across the 20 districts.

Key responsibilities:

• Coordinating OVC support supervision programs for youth beneficiarie of the project.
• Design guidelines and strategies on promoting both community base and facility based SRH interventions including HIV services for youth like appropriate HTC, FP, VMMC, Care and treatment, Antenatal and postnatal care etc.
• Provide technical assistance to CSOs on the implementation of youth products that include; education for life, life skills and sexual reproductive health and rights, child protection and enterprise development.
• Carry-out review meetings with all the implementing structures including CSO project managers, sub county supervisors and district based trainers.
• Work with the IGA Officer and the entire project economic strengthening team to design and implement economic opportunities for OVC.
• Establish a systems approach in working & collaborating with other stakeholders like schools, families, health service providers, private sector, peers and communities to holistically respond to the needs of the most vulnerable youth.
• Compile and submit all activity reports.
• Represent Youth Alive in the regional/district project meetings

Person specification

• Qualified with Bachelors in Humanities.
• At least 3 years experience in designing and implementing OVC youth programs.
• Understanding of the local language and context.
• Strong knowledge in the economic opportunities for youth including government and private sector platforms.
• Experience with USAID projects for health (PEPFAR 3.0) & OVC programming.
• Good level of competence in Excel, Word, Power-Point and Outlook.
• Excellent interpersonal & communication skills.
• Creative, analytical, with good problem solving skills.
•  High level of emotional intelligence.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet targets and deadlines
• Ability to work in a busy office environment that often demands high levels of concentration.
• Ability to manage high volume workload.
• Experience in facilitating the Youth Alive EFL Curriculum is an added advantage.
