The AIDS Support Organization (TASO Uganda), was founded to contribute to the process of preventing HIV infection, restoring hope and improving the quality of Life of persons, families and communities affected by HIV infection and disease. TASO has received a 5-year CDC-PEPFAR Grant to implement accelerated HIV/AIDS epidemic control activities through a Health Systems Strengthening approach in Soroti Region, covering B districts oi Soroti, Kaberamaido (Cluster 1), Katakwi, Amuria (Cluster 2), Serere, Kumi, Bukedea and Ngora (Cluster 3). in addiuon, TASO will be implementing accelerated HIV/AIDS epidemic control activities through a Health Systems Strengthening approach in Masaka and Kalungu districts, as a Sub-recipient under the Masaka Region Rakai Health Sciences Program (RHSP) Consortium funded by PEPFAR through CDC. in pursuit of such intentions, TASO invites applications from qualified, dedicated‘ competent, innovative and results-oriented persons for employment on a contract basis for the posts below;

JOB TITLE - REF : TS/HR/ADVOCACY 11: MANAGER ADVOCACY COMMUNICATION & PARTNERSHIPS - 1 Post
Classification : Contract, full time
Reports to : Executive Director
Salary : Commensurate with training and experience
Duty station : TASO Headquarters
Directly Supervises : Communication, Policy,
Documentation & Public Relations Specialists

Main Purpose of the Job
To provide strategic, technical and managerial leadership in the design, development, planning and implementation of TASO's advocacy & resource mobilization programs, public relations and communication strategies to leverage synergies for attainment of the wellbeing of People Living with HIV and manage the organizational documentation and Policy relives for a positive image of TASO

Key Outputs

  • Leadership, coordination, documentation of advocacy & resource mobilisation programs implemented
  • Advocacy, Communication and Public Relations and resource Mobilisation strategies adopted and implemented
  • Public Relations and image built for TASO
  • Friend of TASO relations initiated and maintained
  • Partnerships it Linkages developed and maintained
  • TASO Governance and leadership structures coordinated
  • TASO best practices and innovation developed. Documented and published.
  • Policies reviewed and disseminated

Minimum Academic Qualifications: Master's Degree in Social Sciences, Public policy, Mass communication, knowledge management or any related field.

Additional Training

  • Orientation in HIV/AIDS prevention, care and support
  • Project Planning and Management and resource mobilization
  • Advocacy and public policy formulation
  • Public Administration and budget analysis

Required Experience and Skills

  • 5years' relevant experience with demonstrated success in advocacy, policy and communications within the National development community and 3 years senior management experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Ugandan and international - based HIV/AIDS advocacy and policy issues
  • Proven leadership skills, with unique ability to manage start and communicate effectively.
  • Demonstrated history of successfully building critical, long term, engaging relationships with stakeholders and relevant partners.

  • Knowledge on PLHIV Centred Health care service delivery
  • Trends and developments in HIV/AIDS prevention and Care
  • TASO's mandate, programmes and activities
  • Knowledge of human rights protection and promotion
  • Public policy formulation and lobbying
  • The activities of other AIDS Support organizations in Uganda
  • TASO‘s Key partners and their roles
  • National HIV/AIDS prevention Strategies
  • HIV/AIDS Policy framework
  • Strategic thinking skills
