Background:
The mission of the Infectious Diseases Institute (IDI) is to “Strengthen Health Systems in Africa with strong emphasis on Infectious Diseases through Research and Capacity Development”. With funding from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC/PEPFAR), IDI is the lead implementing partner for comprehensive HIV/AIDS services in the West Nile.

Project Officer- HIV/AIDS Refugee Programme -West Nile
(Duty Station West Nile)

General Summary:
Work with the relevant stakeholders to ensure provision of quality and timely provision of comprehensive HIV/AIDS services to clients within the refugee settings in line with identified needs and available funding.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Identification of both known and newly identified PLHIV in refugee settlements
  •  Linkage of identified HIV positive clients to HIV, GB\/, and other related care and support services
  • Ensure Quality HIV care and treatment including differentiated service delivery for clients in refugee settlements
  • Work with the different stakeholders to support accreditation of ART sites in refugee settlements in line with MoH standards
  • Coordinate and support training for health workers in HIV/AIDS care and related fields
  •  Provide input in the drawing of Project work plans and budgets as required
  • Manage quality and timely reporting to donors and other Project stakeholders.

Person Specifications:

  •  A Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery Degree or degree in other health related discipline from a recognized University
  • Advanced Degree in Public health or a related health field plus a post graduate diploma in Project Planning and management will be an added advantage.
  •  Registered with the Uganda Medical and Dental Practitioners Council
  • Additional training in comprehensive HIV/AIDS care will he an added advantage
  •  A minimum of 2 years of successful management of public health/Health Systems strengthening/ HIV & AIDS projects. Knowledge of PEPFAR/US Government programming policies and procedures
