Established in 1988, the MRC/UVRI Uganda Research Unit on AIDS is an internationally recognized center of excellence for research on HIV infection and related diseases, contributing knowledge on the evolving epidemic, the evaluation of innovative health care options, treatment and prevention, and the development of health policy and practice in Africa and worldwide. The Unit's head offices are located at the Uganda Virus Research Institute-Entebbe Campus, and the main research activities in Masaka, Kalungu, Kampala and Wakiso Districts, including the peri-urban areas of Entebbe. The Unit is now seeking enthusiastic and experienced individuals to fill the following position:

Job: Scientist A – Project Leader
Position Code: GPC917
Project: Cancer and Epidemiology Programme – GPC
Reports to: Head of Programme – Cancer and Epidemiology
Duty Station: Kyamulibwa
Start Date: As soon as possible
Contract Duration: 31/03/2019

Job Purpose: To offer scientific leadership and ensure timely and credible execution of GPC project activities.

Person Specification: A relevant first degree in medicine or science based subject (including social science). A Masters level expertise in Public Health, Epidemiology, Statistics, Demography or related subject. At least 3 years’ clinical or other relevant work experience. Work experience in a research setting, experience with supervision of medical staff are desirable.
