Qualifications:

• A Certificate in Enrolled Midwifery (EMW) from a recognized institution.
  
• Evidence of one year's working experience as Enrolled Midwife in a recognized Institution

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive care to mothers during pregnancy with emphasis on identifying high risk cases and refer them to Doctors.
  
• Ensure that aseptic techniques are adhered to in carrying out deliveries.
  
• Provide comprehensive care to mothers during labour with emphasis on keeping proper records, use of drugs and prevention of complication to mothers and babies.
  
• Ensure that the babies’ air passages are clear, assess and keep babies constantly, watch the umbilical cords and carry out immunization.
  
• Ensure that the babies are properly labeled with identification tags. Provide comprehensive care to mothers during pregnancy with emphasis prevention of infection and successful breastfeeding and infant nutrition
  
• Provide Obstetrical emergency care and refer complicated cases to the Doctor.
  
• Register births of the newborns.
  
• Maintain close contact with patients.
  
• Ensure confidentiality of patients.
  
• Receive patients, register admissions and discharges.
  
• Conduct Health Education to mothers and their husbands.
  
• Participate in Primary Health Care activities.
  
• Adhere to the relevant Codes of Conduct and Ethics.
  
• Perform any other duties as maybe assigned from time to time.
  
• Participate in a continuous nursing coverage on Wards/Units by receiving

Applications are invited from suitably qualified applications to fill the Ministry of Health vacant posts tenable at Arua Regional Referral Hospital under the UNICEF Project.

THE JOBS ARE ON AGDNTRACT TERMS: ONE (1) YEAR "RENEWABLE; AND ON THE UGANDA GOVERNMENT SALARY SCALE.

Applications should be filled in triplicate on PS Form 3 (Revised 2008) and submitted to the Secretary, Health Service Commission at Plot No.1 Pilkington Road, Workers House, 3rd Flour (Northern Wing) or through P.O Box 7452, Kampala; to be received not later than November 17th 2017.

1. Complete all parts of the application form (PSF 3, Revised 2008) and submit three (3) copies. Each applicant should apply for only one (1) vacancy.

• Copies of letters of appointment, plus confirmation letters as it may apply. all Copies of Registration Certificates and a valid Practicing Licenses for Health Workers who are required by law to register with the relevant Professional councils.

3. it is emphasized that:

• All application forms should beat the name of the Institution, title of the post and its reference number

• Serving Officers must not apply,
  
• Only shortlisted candidates will he contacted,
  
• Shortlisted candidates shall be required to bring their original certificates at the interview. Candidate who will present forged certificates are to be handed over to the Police for appropriate action.
  
• Health Workers on training exceeding three (3) months should not apply.
