CHAU’s portfolio of work spans technical and organizational capacity building of civil society organizations, community systems strengthening, SRHR/HIV integration, policy and advocacy.

its mission is to drive the national civil society response to health and HIV/SRH challenges by leading strong community action. CHAU's work focuses on Most at Risk populations or key populations: who are usually vulnerable and may not have access to services and information. CHAU has a strategic partnership with the international HIV/AIDS Alliance — a UK-based international NGO. The partnership has enhanced CHAU’s technical and institutional capacity and for over five years now, CHAU has built a track record of successfully managing and implementing development interventions with funding from DFID, DANIDA, SIDA, EU, and Positive Action for Children Fund and the Netherlands.

CHAU invites applications from suitably qualified individuals (nationals) for the following positions:

Finance Officer
Role Overview:
To verity, process transactions,. monitor, report and maintain financial data/information, ensure staff compliance to the finance ; policies and provide technical support to CHAU lPs and staff in line with CHAU policies, international accounting standards and other statutory requirements and Best practices.

  • Verify authenticity of payments and accountability documents and process tinancial transactions tor CHAU in line with CHAU policies, International Accounting Standards, statutory: requirements and Best practice
  • Update the CHAU accounting systems and Maintain accurate up to date tinancial records in line with CHAU policies, International Accounting Standards, statutory requirements and Best practice
  • Analyze, monitor and Reconcile tinancial records, in line with Cl-lAU policies, international Accounting Standards, statutory requirements and Best practice
  • Prepare the monthly payroll and ensure completeness and timely submission of statutory deductions to the relevant authorities (URA, NSSF and Local Government)

Key Result Areas:

  • Prepare the monthly payroll and ensure completeness and timely submission oi statutory deductions to the relevant authorities (URA, NSSF and Local Government)

Person Specification:

  • A Bachelors degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Financial Management or Accounting from a recognized ; university, Pan CPA, ACCA

Working Experience:

  • A minimum of two years working experience in accounting and finance preferably in an NGO sector

Essential Knowledge:

  • Donor financial accounting procedures
  • GAAP, IAS/AFRS accounting requirements and budgeting
  • Word, Excel, financial information systems, vision excel and executive, as well as database and accounting packages.
  • Tax laws and systems in Uganda
  • Operations of sub grant partners/community based; organizations budgeting and budgetary control
  • Operations of sub grant partners/community based organizations Budgeting and budgetary control Essential skills:
