ActionAid Uganda (AAU), a National Development Organization registered under the laws of Uganda and with a local Board seeks to recruit suitably qualified, self-driven, result-oriented and competent persons to fill the positions of; Project Coordinator-Youth Empowerment for Sustainable Self Employment and National Development (YESSEN); and Youth & Campaigns Officer.

Job Title: Youth and Campaigns Officer
Reports to : Governance coordinator with matrix reporting to Manager Policy, Advocacy & campaigns.
Responsible for: None
Directorate: programmes
Location: ActionAid Uganda Head Office-Kampala

Job Role: To implement a young people focused participatory democracy and governance program to ensure quality and impact in line with AAU Strategy and relevant organizational policies.

Key Result Areas:

•  Plan, implement, and monitor activities, prepare and submit periodic reports that address community priority on poverty issues in line with the unit plan and Country Strategy Paper (CSP).
• Support the institutional and capacity building initiatives of partners to implement activities in line with the partnership MOU‘s, LRP plans and the CSP through documentation of project experiences,
• Undertake resource mobilization tasks in line with achievements and impacts and other best practices CSP and organizational policies and disseminate to different stakeholders.
• Monitor the implementation of governance and young people's programs and provide support to respective units in line with the CSP and organizational Policies
• Conduct contextual analysis, research and analyze policies for generation of evidence for policy advocacy and campaigns in line with the CSP Campaign strategies and A theory of change
•  initiate, nurture and sustain strategic networks and alliances at all levels in line with AAU/l guidelines and frameworks

Person Specifications
Qualification:

• A Bachelor‘s degree in Law, Governance and Democracy, Human rights or any other Humanitian from an accredited academic institution.
• A relevant post graduate diploma qualification and training in Human rights based approaches, Youth programming and/or approaches, human right democracy and governance is an added advantage.

Experience:
2-3 years of similar working experience, with young people, their organizations, social movements am campaigns

Competencies:
Youth and governance development and design skills; Networking and coalition/movement building; Critical writing, analysis and excellent oral communication skills; Monitoring and evaluation skills; Research, policy analysis and Advocacy skills; Advocacy and campaigning skills; Knowledge in application of social accountability and governance tools; Extensive experience of proposal development and design;
