JOB DETAILS:
Rakai Health Sciences Program is a collaborative Bio-medical research and service delivery organization. It strives to improve the quality of life of the local population through a combination of community based research, curative services and prevention strategies in the district of Rakai, South Western Uganda. It is based at Kalisizo in Kyotera District and Kampala.
The Program is seeking to strengthen its staffing position to efficiently execute its research and service activities. Applications are therefore invited from qualified and competent Ugandans to fill a vacant position based at Rakai Health Sciences Program- Kalisizo, Kyotera district as indicated below:
POSITION: Medical Supply Chain Officer (1 Positions)
Reporting Line: Regional Medical Supply Chain
Duty station: Mpigi
Job Brief: The Supply Chain Officer supports in monitoring and providing on-site support of medical logistics management in the supported districts/health facilities according to MoH standards. He/she will ensure close monitoring of ART commodities and stock levels. He/she will further ensure adequate supply of quality drugs, responding to dynamic changes in demand, managing increased volumes of commodities and minimizing pilferage and misuse.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
• Support health workers in health facilities in their dispensing, stock management, and storage management practices.
• Provide technical assistance, mentorships and CMEs in medicines and health supplies management.
• Support districts to develop district pharmacy systems and annual procurement plans
• Support facilities in ordering and reporting bi monthly and participate in district order review meetings
• Support health workers and medicine management supervisors to implement RX solution, SPARS, PFM and submit all the required reports.
• Strengthen pharmacovigilance and adherence issues in the health facilities.
• Participate in budgeting for supply chain activities, requisitioning and appropriately account for the disbursed funds.
• Develop and follow up on activity plans developed with the focal logistics personnel in the district health facilities.
• Participate in CMEs and disseminate information updates regarding logistics management.
• Any other assigned duties in line with your roles
Education, Key Competencies and Experience:
• The ideal applicant should have minimum qualification of a diploma in Pharmacy
• Experience in medical supply chain and logistics of medicines and health supplies is an added advantage
• Active Registration with the Allied Medical Practitioners Council
• At least two years of working in a clinical setting/ facility, preferably in an HIV/AIDS setting.
• Computer Knowledge and skills
• Experience in using WAOS & TWOS
• Good presentation and report writing skills
• Communication skills and ability to speak the local languages.
• Ability to work under minimal supervision
• Ability to work with the health care workers in the district as a team and provide timely feedback.
