Heifer International Uganda is currently seeking to fill the vacant position below. Heifer International is currently seeking to fill three (3) vacant positions for the East Africa Youth Inclusion Program (EAYIP). This is a five (5) year program currently in year four (4) of implementation. The program that focuses on increasing incomes through enterprise development and youth employment in the Eastern and Central regions of Uganda. Job ID 108 .

Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor Degree in Agriculture Economics, Agribusiness Business Administration, and Enterprise Development or other related field. At least 7 years’ experience in a mix of economic growth/trade, value chain competitiveness, investment promotion, or agriculture development. At least five (5) years’ management-level work experience.
Preferred Requirements:
• Master’s Degree in relevant professional discipline.
• Experience in commercial business environment in addition to rural sensitivity will be an added advantage.
Most Critical Proficiencies:
• Understanding of commercial business enterprises, especially in the rural areas.
• Good understanding of Market Systems Development (MSD) approaches with strong business analysis skills.
• Knowledge of income and expense budget preparation and monitoring.
• Knowledge of development issues especially in the dairy value chain in East Africa.
• Good understanding of gender dynamics in development, particularly among women and the youth.
• Good understanding of the different value chains within the agricultural sector.
• Strong leadership, teamwork, mentoring and coaching skills.
• Ability to communicate effectively with Heifer’s HQ, donors, partners and local governments.
• Fluency in English (knowledge of other languages spoken in Uganda is a plus).
• Exceptional writing skills.
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively throughout Uganda and other ADAP project sites.
• Proficient knowledge of word processing, spreadsheets, presentation tools, electronic mail (Microsoft Office preferred) and the Internet.

• Proven team leadership and supervisory skills with the ability to train and work cooperatively with a diverse staff.
• Ability to travel domestically, regionally and internationally as required.
• Constant face-to-face, telephone and electronic communication with colleagues and the general public.
• May require constant sitting; working at a computer and focusing for extended periods of time and performing office environment activities while on the road and/or in remote condition.
• Working with sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality.
• Ability to manage and execute multiple tasks with little supervision while meeting inflexible deadlines
