Food for the Hungry. (FH/U) is a Christian international relief and development organization that has been working in Uganda since 1989. FH is currently operating programs in 26 countries and has national offices on the UK, Canada, Switzerland, Sweden, United States of America and Japan. FH's primary goal is to respond to development needs and complex humanitarian emergencies. In Uganda, FH is operational in the communities of Adjumani, Kitgum, Lamwo, Kole, Kween, Mbale, Namutumba and Amudat Districts implementing programs in four main sectors of Education; Food Security and Livelihoods; Health/Nutrition and Disaster Risk Reduction, with the Head office located in Kampala.

Job Title: Regional Logistics Officer
Position Type: Fixed
Location: East, based in Mbale
Reports to: Program Area Manager with dotted lines to Logistics Manager Contract
Length: 2years
Start Date: Immediate
Job Summary:
The incumbent will conduct timely procurement of quality goods, services and works that comply with the required specifications while upholding Food for the Hungry's procurement and Logistics procedures and policies and maintaining high level of accountability and integrity.
POSITION IN THE ORGANIZATION
The Regional Logistics Officer reports hierarchically to the Program Area Manager with dotted lines to Logistics Manager. .

Major roles and Responsibilities:
• Processing of Procurement Requests:
• Sourcing of Goods, Services and Works:
• Administering Contracts and Payments
• Fleet management
• Supplier Relationships and Communications
• Assets and Property Management (including premises)
• Storekeeping
• Reporting & Record Keeping/Filing


Job Requirements:
• Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Purchasing & Supply, or field relevant to the position.
• Possession of Professional qualification/certification such as Graduate Diploma in Purchasing & Supply Management - C.L.P.S or equivalent. A relevant post graduate qualification will be an added advantage.
• A minimum of five years' experience at supervisor level in large procuring entity, preferably with an International NGO.
• Sound public and negotiation skills along with business acumen coupled with attention to details, maturity in decision making and time management skills
• Be highly proactive with personal initiative and drive, honest with a high level of integrity
• a team-player with a positive attitude and good planning skills
• Possess the ability to handle multiple projects and work under minimal supervision.
• Possess the ability to work in a team to achieve excellence in execution, committed, accountable and passionate about the work we do.
• Commitment to Food for the Hungry Heartbeat and sensitivity to its various expressions across cultures and denominations
• Track record demonstrating high integrity, reliable and dependable
• Must be a committed Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities.
Protection & Security Clause.
• The incumbent is obliged to create and maintain an environment that prevents sexual exploitation and sexual abuse and promote the implementation of the ideal code of conduct
• Create dialogue and promote awareness about sexual exploitation and sexual abuse issues with beneficiaries and community stakeholders.
