ChildFund’s child protection portfolio focuses on the prevention of, and response to, exploitation, abuse, neglect, harmful practices, and violence against children. Our work in child protection is community-led and focuses on comprehensive Community-Based Child Protection (CBCP) Mechanisms in each of our countries of operation. We work to address harmful cultural norms, gender inequality, and promote safety within homes, schools, communities, and online. ChildFund works to mainstream protection into all aspects of our Life Stage and sectoral work, including in livelihoods, early childhood development, health, education, and humanitarian response.

About This Role
The Child Protection Advisor is a new position to provide technical support to strengthen ChildFund’s global program portfolio and enhance program quality on child protection, with a focus on the prevention of Online Sexual Exploitation and Abuse of Children (OSEAC) and the integration of Mental Health & Psychosocial Support interventions into existing and new programming. The Advisor will work collaboratively with divisional and global colleagues in accordance with ChildFund’s theories of change across our life stages approach. This position includes significant responsibility for resource mobilization and will provide technical leadership in the pre-positioning, capture planning and preparation of grant proposals.
This is a full-time, fixed-term position for 2 years. Candidates must have current work authorization in a ChildFund country of operation and proximity to a ChildFund country office. Primary Responsibilities

• In collaboration with Business Development team and country office staff, lead the technical design and writing for grant proposals with a child protection focus.
• Participate in pre-positioning activities for future business development opportunities:
• Attend meetings with external partners.
• Attend child protection learning and networking events.
• Review strategic investment plans of key donors in the Child Protection sector.
• Develop tools, frameworks, and resources to enable better mainstreaming and integration of Child Protection into ChildFund’s core programming.
• Contribute child protection technical inputs with a focus on clear and consistent quality standards for child development and protection outcomes.
• Review and provide technical feedback on results and contribute to project reports to ensure quality and full compliance with donor policies and project objectives.
• Participate in research, learning, and knowledge activities, including contributions to impact reports, abstracts and papers, and data collection and analysis for ChildFund’s Results Framework.
• Work with the OSEAC Task Force to support the development of organization-wide trauma-informed policies that will guide the roll-out of ChildFund’s Online Safety programming.
• Develop and lead training for international and country office staff to promote increased understanding of online safety programming.
• Train and support country office staff to ensure high quality and effective implementation of Online Safety programming.
• Support the design of tools aimed at monitoring progress and impact of Online Safety programming.
• Lead the process to mainstream OSEAC questions and content into ongoing Child Protection Mechanism strengthening initiatives (data collection tools, background research, data analysis, and generation of relevant recommendations and action plans).
• Work with Child Protection Specialists in country offices to mainstream Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS) initiatives and interventions into ongoing Child Protection Mechanism strengthening initiatives, including developing guidance to support safe and confidential referrals from formal and informal child protection committees to MHPSS service providers.
• Collaborate with Technical Advisory team and country offices to develop and launch MHPSS initiatives within existing Life Stage interventions and new grant-funded projects.
• Build and strengthen external partnerships with child protection actors.
• Support the generation of child protection content for internal and external communications.
• Remain alert and responsive to any child safeguarding risks, acquire relevant knowledge and skills which will enable you to promote strong safeguarding practices, understand the child safeguarding policy and procedures, and conduct yourself in a manner consistent with the Child Safeguarding Policy.

Required Competencies
• Ability to read, write, and speak fluently in English.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
• Demonstrated technical knowledge of program design, including monitoring and evaluation frameworks, implementation, and evaluation for child protection programs.
• Demonstrated knowledge of proposal development, including technical strategy design and narrative writing.
• Demonstrated coaching and training skills, with the ability to provide high-quality technical assistance in virtual and in-person environments.
• Relationship-building and networking skills.
• Excellent presentation and public speaking skills.
• Demonstrated strong narrative writing skills in English.

Required Experience and Education
• University degree in social work, international studies, or other relevant field.
• At least 6 years of experience in international development programs in a regional or multi-country context.
• At least 3 years of international field experience.
• Experience working in child protection programming, preferably in Africa, Asia, and/or Central America.
• Experience working with children experiencing deprivation, exclusion and vulnerability and their families in both development and humanitarian environments.

Additional Preferred Qualifications
• Master’s degree in social work or other relevant field is preferred.
• Experience with proposals for U.S. government donor agencies and grant-making processes (e.g., USAID).
• Fluency in another language (Spanish, French, Portuguese) is desired.
• Knowledge of operational research and program evaluation methodologies, including quantitative and qualitative methods, is preferred.
