CALL FOR BUSINESS PLAN PROPOSALS FOR THE UCC/UCUSAF GRANT FOR DIGITAL SKILLING OF FARMERS
Introduction
Uganda Communications Commission (UCO) through the Uganda Communications Universal Service Access Fund (UCUSAF), has launched a call for business plan proposals to establish a collaboration on the implementation of key activities under a general thematic area of enhancing digital skills among farmers in the country.
UCO/UCUSAF seeks to collaborate with a two (2) suitably qualified stakeholders or consortium of stakeholders with the requisite qualifications, resources competencies, and experience to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide amongst the farmers.
The general objective of the project is to impart digital transversal skills to farmers that will enable them to harness the innovations that have been developed by government and private sector so as to increase efficiency and productivity in the lives of the farmers.
Specific Objectives
1. Train and create awareness amongst farmers on the use and potential of IOTS (Internet tools, Mobile applications, etc.) in business, social life, education, etc. for their social economic transformation.
2. Develop, adopt appropriate curriculum and capacity building approaches that are novel in the delivery of digital transversal skills for farmers.
3. Build capacity of farmers in digital transversal akilla aligned with social responsibility and relevant IOT entrepreneurship skills.
4. Establish a sustainable farmer digital transversal skills capacity building model.
Project Key Actions
a. Train a total of at least 3,000 beneficiaries in each of the 2 Lots as specified in the details.
b. Develop training content, customized in local languages, where required.
c. Mentor, Monitor and follow-up trainees.
Target Group
The initiative targets largely farmers engaged in any form of farming including Animal husbandry, Orop farming, Fish farming, Apiary, and Poultry. In addition to extension officers and other value chain actors in rural areas. However, the applicant can scope her proposal accordingly.
Application Timeline
The grant application is open effective 19th September - 02 October 2023.
An online Pre-grant Application meeting on Teams will be held on 26th September 2023 at 10.00am.
