CALL FOR BUSINESS PLAN PROPOSALS FOR THE UCC/UCUSAF GRANT FOR DIGITAL SKILLS DEVELOPMENT OF RURAL UNSERVED & UNDERSEVED COMMUNITIES
Introduction
Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) through the Uganda Communications Universal Service Access Fund (UCUSAF), has launched a call for business plan proposals to establish a collaboration on the implementation of key activities under a general thematic area of enhancing digital skills amongst the rural unserved and underserved communities in the unserved and underserved parts of the country.

UCO/UCUSAF seeks to collaborate with a suitably qualified stakeholder or consortium of stakeholders with qualifications, the requisite competencies, and experience to implement initiatives aimed at addressing the digital divide amongst the rural unserved and underserved communities.
The general objective of the project is to support rural communities in harnessing the benefits from the digital economy, reaping the opportunities offered by digitization and adapting rapidly to new reality during and in aftermath COVID-19 crisis through improved digital skills and capacities.
Specific Objectives
• Train and create awareness amongst the rural unserved and underserved communities on the use and potential of 10Ta in various economic empowerment sectors, social life. citizen participation and continuous learning for their social economic transformation.
• Develop,adopt appropriate curriculum and capacity building approaches that are adaptable to the local context and cognizant of the different rural community demographic categories.
• Build capacity of rural unserved and underserved communities in digital transversal skills aligned with social responsibility and relevant ICT entrepreneurship skills.
Project Key Actions
• Train A Total Of At Least 2,500 Beneficiaries In Each Of The 2 Lots As Specified In The Details.
• Develop Training Content, Customized In Local Languages, Where Required.
• Mentor, Monitor And Follow-Up Trainees.
Target Group
The initiative targets largely the general population in the selected villages of the villages in the districts specified in the details.
Application Timeline
The grant application is open effective 19th September - 02nd October 2023.
An online Pre-grant Application meeting on Teams will be held on 26 September 2023 at 12.00pm. Participants should register in advance for this meeting using the link in the detailed document.
