JOB DETAILS:
Position Overview:
To provide spiritual ministry leadership and discipleship to patients, caretakers, staff, CURE Neuro coordinators and CURE Uganda Community Volunteer Pastors.

Evangelism & Discipleship
• Evidences a clear understanding and agreement of the CCHU faith and mission statements.
• Ensures the safety of children from hurting themselves or accidents caused by others in playroom.
• To evangelize, disciple and counsel the caretakers who come to the hospital and in all our ministry fields.
• Taking pictures and writing discipleship stories.
• Gives special care to the children or families that show a need or desire for spiritual or moral support.
• Comforts and assists families that have children who die or have unsuccessful treatment.
• Joins the Spiritual Director in devotions, ward, and outpatient and film ministry. Directs these ministries in the absence of the Spiritual Director or Associate - Pastor.
• Interprets on the Ward, Outpatients Clinic and in the Spiritual Center as needed.
• Participates in satellite Clinics and in other discipleship follow ups.
• Coordinates the CCSP and Mobile clinic pastors’ follow up efforts and writes comprehensive reports of the discipleship ministry.
• Prepare monthly report statistics on new believers and submit to the Spiritual Director copied to the CURE Neuro Program manager.
• Maintains confidentiality of all CURE patient information and only discusses information with the appropriate health care worker for purposes of patient care.
• Ensures the safety of all SPC property and reports immediately to the Supervisor any malfunctioning, damage or loss of any equipment and their accessories.
• Works with the Spiritual Director to achieve departmental objectives and goals for meeting the needs of the patients, caretakers, employees and visitors within the facility.
• Attends all departmental meetings and retreats as directed.

CURE Neuro function
• Provide spiritual ministry leadership and coordination for CURE Neuro’s coordinators in various locations in Africa.
• Coordinates effectively with CURE Neuro coworkers to ensure that sufficient ministry of the gospel and prayer is happening in CURE Neuro program and ensures discipleship of new believers.
• Support the assessment process and restructuring of the CURE Neuro program with regards to integrated Spiritual Ministry.
• Guide and equip Care Coordinators (Africa) in their spiritual ministry efforts.
• Collaborate with Care Coordinators (Africa) and Program Leadership to identify and pursue opportunities for reaching patients and caregivers with the gospel.
• Provide care, support and encouragement to Care Coordinators (Africa).
• Establish and encourage standards of Christian conduct for Care Coordinators, guiding them in how to do the same for patients, patient families and the community that the CURE Neuro serves.
• Identify potential ministry partners and resources that can help in the realization of the overall CURE mission and identified ministry objectives within CURE Neuro (Africa).
• Lead devotion sessions (Bible Studies and prayer sessions) with Care Coordinators (Africa).
• Coordinate network initiatives related to spiritual ministry.
• Prepare ministry reports/stories and updates as guided.
• Participate in CURE Neuro teams’ calls (when Africa and Asia teams meet) and communicate key information with relevant parties.

Education and Professional Development
• Ensures own professional development to enhance own competencies through self-assessment and/or formal performance appraisal on regular basis according to the hospital (and own) professional development plan.
• Maintains professional records that provide evidence of competency and lifelong learning.
• Identifies personal development and training needs and work with the supervisor to, help facilitate education and professional development where possible.
• Maintains a good quality learning environment that supports continuing professional development, creativity and being proactive.
• Spiritual Ministry Participation Participates in the hospital’s Spiritual Ministry programs.
• Attend chapel and departmental bible studies with staff (depending on weekly schedule)

Occupational Health & Safety function
• All staff are expected to work in such a way that does not cause injury to themselves, other staff members or customers.
• Following & complying with H&S policies, processes & applying them to their own work activities, including using/wearing Personal Protective Equipment as required.
• Participating in activities directed at preventing harm & promoting well-being in the workplace Identifying, reporting & self-managing hazards where appropriate.
• Early and accurate reporting of incidents at work and raising issues of concern when identified.

Essential Qualifications
• A completed degree or master's level training in a ministry related course. Certificate level training on new believers’ discipleship is an added advantage.
• 3-5 years’ experience in child evangelism, working within a hospital or similar setting with children, families, and communities' Christian maturity exhibiting a close relationship with the Lord. This being evidenced by, and not limited to, a strong prayer life and a love for the Word.
• Training and/or experience in counseling with individuals, especially children and their families.
• Consistent spiritual and moral character, and personal integrity and self-motivation in the fulfillment of ministry
• Ability to establish priorities, work independently and proceed with objectives with minimum supervision in an extremely busy workplace.
• Fluency in reading and writing English and at least five other local languages in Uganda.
• Must possess good oral and written communication skills.
• Must possess good interpersonal skills.
• Must have very good computer skills particularly in word and excel.
• Willingness to travel to remote clinics, communities and occasionally other countries.

Essential Experience and knowledge
• Passionate about the mission of CURE.
• Love for children and their families.
• Comfortable working in a medical setting.
• Advanced photography and video competence regarding DSLR cameras, lighting, composition, editing, etc.
• Excellent ability to write and communicate in short form for a western audience.
• Written and spoken fluency with the English language.
• Experience of working with MS Packages – Word/Excel/PowerPoint/ Access
• Experience working in a hospital environment.

• Demonstrate good command of the English language both written and verbal to effectively carry out the duties and responsibilities of the role.
