JOB DETAILS:
Job Purpose:
To provide support in the implementation of the Company’s Legal, Regulatory and Compliance Framework, Strategy and Policies, with a view to minimising Legal and Regulatory Risks; and provide advice and counsel to Management and Staff on Legal, Regulatory and Compliance related matters.

Key Result Areas:
• Advise the Management and Employees on Legal, Regulatory and Compliance matters.
• Ensure that the Company complies with its Licence, Legal and Regulatory obligations.
• Act as a liaison officer between the Company and relevant regulatory authorities and stakeholders within and outside the country.
• Identify Legal and Regulatory Risks and advise on mitigation measures
• Co-ordinate internal and external Legal and Regulatory Compliance Audits
• Guard the legal interests of the Company in all its dealings with third parties with respect to commercial and other legal transactions by providing advisory services to the company on contractual and legal terms.
• Draft and or review Contracts with a view to protecting the interests of the Company.
• Provide support and relevant information to external counsel in respect to litigation and any other matters.

Qualifications
• Bachelors of Laws (LL.B) in English from a recognized University
• Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre (LDC)
• Enrolment as an Advocate of the High Court of Uganda
• Member of the Uganda Law Society
• Minimum of three years’ post-enrolment experience, with at least 3 years in telecommunications or Banking or a busy Commercial law practice or a major corporate organization.
Knowledge
• Sound understanding of Telecom Laws, Regulations, Standards and industry norms
• Proficient knowledge of the regulatory and compliance environments in Uganda
• Ability to manage relations with the government, regulatory bodies, external counsel and key business partners and stakeholder
• Good negotiation and dispute resolution skills
• Excellent drafting and interpretation skills
• Excellent project management skills
• Ability to work with a team and all levels within the organization
