Call for Applications: Machine Learning & Artificial Intelligence Program
Background
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a key technology driving the global and national digital revolution. It offers a range of new opportunities to break down existing barriers to human development and social inclusion and help to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
To be able to harness the potential of Al, Uganda and other African countries need to build the human capacity and skills in Al as emphasized by the Uganda National Development Plan III. The Ministry of ICT and National Guidance supported by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), the Deutsche Gesellschaft fÅNur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) through the project "FAIR Forward - Artificial Intelligence for All", have partnered to deliver the Al skilling program that aims to contribute to the development and re-skilling of Ugandan workforce in Al, machine learning and data science.
Refactory has received funding to implement this program in Uganda. Part of the funding will offer 50 full scholarships to suitably qualified Ugandans. 50% of the scholarships will be awarded to female applicants.
Program Objectives
a) To provide learners with actionable knowledge and an understanding of Al and data science applications in the local contexts.
b) To equip learners with the knowledge, practical skills and techniques in big data and analytics required in the management and support of large data-driven systems and business processes.
c) To equip learners with the knowledge and technical skills in Al and machine learning required to create and deploy AI/ML solutions to real-world challenges.
d) To equip learners with skills needed to meet the demand for machine learning engineers and data scientists in government, industry and civil society.
e) To provide learners with knowledge and skills in the use of data analytics and Al solutions to enable data-driven decision-making.
Program Duration: Six Months (Part-time)
