JOB DESCRIPTION

RESPONSIBILITIES

• The Driver shall strictly follow the traffic rules and speed limits applicable, and shall always drive in a safe, considerate and defensive manner. In case of an accident the driver shall ensure that the steps required by rules and regulations are followed, including filling in the accident report form.
• The Driver is responsible for cleaning and daily maintenance of the vehicle and shall ensure that it is in a safe running condition. He/she is also responsible for checking of oil level, water level, battery, brakes, tires, etc., and that the vehicle is at all times equipped with a first aid kit, a good spare tire and all prescribed tools and equipment. He/she will report promptly and in writing to NRC is some tools are missing.
• The driver is responsible for filling the logbook for all trips and to ensure that other drivers that may use the vehicle to do the same.
• The Driver shall ensure that all required licenses, insurance cards and vehicle permits are valid and available in the vehicle incl. accident reports. He/she must also ensure that own driving licence and other relevant driving papers are up to date.
• The Driver shall follow the instructions given in the Checklist from the NRC Drivers’ Manual.
• The Driver is responsible for performing minor repairs. If major repairs are needed these should be reported to the supervisor before making arrangements.
• The Driver shall provide logistical support to NRC Teams during field missions, trainings and workshops.
• The Driver shall assist the Logistics Assistant with receiving, storing, picking and packing goods for the NRC warehouse/storeroom.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Valid driver’s license
• Experience from working as a Driver in a humanitarian/recovery context
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
• Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
• Some knowledge of English

JOB DESCRIPTION
NRC Uganda is looking for a seasoned Security Lead to support their country program. This position is based at the Country Office. If you are that candidate whose profile fits this call, go on, send in that application, it could be you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support in the annual revision of field office security plans, evacuation plans, relocation, hibernation, and other related procedures, and provide necessary feedback for the country security plan.
• Monitor and evaluate field compliance to NRC safety and security policies, procedures and regulations on country level.
• Conduct regular and risk assessments to identify safety and security needs and to assess if all NRC bases in country are compliant with NRC safety and security risk management standards.
 

• Ensure the monthly HSS report Area office and Country Office submissions are compiled and submitted to head office.
• Build and maintain stakeholders contact list in access related and other negotiations/discussions with them.
• Carry out security briefings to new staff, visitors and staff returning from leave within 24 hours of arrival.
• Identify training needs and deliver/assist in conducting in house trainings.
• Support Country office and field offices in achieving HSS compliance; including producing a regular status report for CMG.
• Conduct investigations on incidents, complaints and recurrent health cases to identify and provide solutions to workplace situations.
• Prepare periodic health statistics and submit to CMG for review.
• Maintain an up to date knowledge of new HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) legislation as well as other developments that can impact on NRC.
• Ensure full and accurate health and safety and training records are maintained.
• Develop, update, provide technical input to Health & Safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed, updated and communicated.
 

• Ensure that NRC meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health, safety and welfare at work, including statutory training and reporting.
• Carry out MORSS assessments of NRC premises related to Country Office activities.
• Monitor, analyze, and update the local political, economic, social, technological, environmental, and legal (PESTEL) context on regular basis and as necessary. Assess possible developments and impacts on current and/or future NRC operations and environment.
• Support in security risk assessments as required.
• Support the country office in dealing with access related issues for NRC
• Support programme staff in planning and implementing risk mitigation strategies to improve access to hard to reach areas or new areas of operation.
• Record and map safety and security incidents both internally in NRC and within the context in general to be used as guide for adapting set policies and procedures as needed.
• Assist in the preparation and submission of incident reports and ensure timely preparation of the subject weekly report while maintaining incident database.
• Conduct inductions for new and existing NRC staff at Country Office.
• Maintain HSS training records, and develop training materials in response to the evolving context.
• Maintain active formal /informal contact and relations with Safety/Liaison counterparts from peer agencies and support Local Humanitarian Partners in managing safety and security and carrying out sound security risk assessments relevant to the programs they implement on behalf of NRC.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Law, Public Administration, Social Work, or any related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Health, Safety, and Security in a humanitarian/ recovery context.
• Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
• Fluency in English, both written and verbal is required
• Sound knowledge of the context in Uganda and the surrounding regions/countries
• Experience in staff management, mentoring, coaching, training
• Advanced computer skills Office 365 and Microsoft programs
• Sound knowledge of operational risk management

JOB DESCRIPTION
NRC Uganda is looking for a qualified Accountant to fill in the position of Finance Officer at their Country office in Kampala. If this call suits your profile, submit that resume, it could be you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Support in ensuring that accurate and timely accounts are submitted to country office in Kampala by 5th of every month in accordance with NRC financial policies and procedures.
• Ensure safe custody of NRC finances and keep the petty cash float, to be issued in accordance with NRC policies and procedures.
• Assemble documents for data input in the accounting system, verifying and registering project numbers/codes, resource numbers and total costs.
• Review payment requests for accuracy, completeness, compliance, level of authorization and clarity on the invoices and seek advice from the finance officer if need arises.
• Prepare and review of payment vouchers and invoices for accuracy and reconcile discrepancies.
• Support the Finance Coordinator in Kampala in day to day reconciliations and financial analysis
• Provides assistance in timely monthly closing and ensuring Country Offices are able to close on agreed upon deadlines
• Review financial reports and documents from the field offices and insure that they are timely received.
• Work closely with logistic department to insure that asset register is updated regularly and match physical assets.
• Prepare a trip report for each assignment and submit to FC and FM
• Provide training and support to finance and non-finance staff regarding generally accepted financial procedures and NRC internal controls.
• Assist in yearend closing and audit document preparation
• Participate in and facilitate country finance workshops and training as required;
• Maintain open communication with Finance, program staff and others for all financial clarifications
• Focal person for audit documents and facilitate the process.
• Ensure proper management of accounting documents and records
• Coordinate financial matters with third parties like banks, vendors and tax authorities.
• Any other duties assigned by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Commerce, Finance or Accounting
• Minimum of 3 years relevant experience
• 2 year of INGO experience is a plus
• CPA2 qualification is added advantage
• Knowledge of Agresso is added advantage.
