JOB DETAILS:

Reports to: Principal Investigator (PI)_Dr. Schola Matovu

Job Purpose:
To support Pl in day-to-day duties related to her role (Research, Teaching and Service) and effectively carry out assigned responsibilities and operations of the Matovu Research Lab (MRL).

Qualifications:
This position requires educational achievement (described below); consistent and timely communication and responsiveness with Pl and other stakeholders, self-motivation and a high level of responsibility to complete tasks in a timely manner and make significant progress without direct supervision, excellent writing skills; strong research skills, critical thinking skills; demonstrable initiative, creativity, and flexibility, ability to work independently and effectively in groups; ability to multi-task and prioritize; and strong interpersonal and organizational skills.

Specific Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education & experience Preferred degree areas: Nursing, Social Sciences, and/or Public Administration
• Master's degree or equivalent combination of training & education in a related field preferred: Preferred degree areas: Nursing, Social Sciences, and/or Public Administration
• 2-4 years related research, education or administrative coordination, requiring experience with Excel, SPSS (or comparable statistical package), Google docs and Internet research
• Experience with Qualtrics, Survey or other online survey program preferred
• English language skills required, additional fluency in Luganda is preferred
• Nursing background preferred.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills strongly preferred.
• Workshop Facilitator experience strongly preferred.

Status:
Fulltime position, 5 Days (40 hours) per week with periodic weekend field work.

Essential Functions:
This position is responsible for providing general administrative support as needed, including but not limited to: 1.
Research and Data Management
• Preparing research ethics application, data sharing agreements and study progress reports.
• Ensuring the filing and maintenance of all regulatory documents.
• Assisting with participant recruitment by performing chart reviews, cold, calling, etc.
• Travelling to field sites to collect and record data and/or samples as appropriate to the specific objectives of the study
• May set up, calibrate and maintain laboratory and/or field research equipment, as specified by the requirements of the study.
• Performing research activities in the field.
• Performing literature searches and producing reviews of the literature to support the delivery of research projects and maintain citation databases
• Keeping abreast of findings from relevant research and sharing these with the research team.
• Disseminating research findings at scientific meetings and conferences.
• Performing questionnaire designing, editing and developing the methodologies and data collection tools.
• Preparing, setting up, conducting and recording the outcome of experiments and field work communicating with co-investigators, collaborators and funders.
• Collecting, processing, shipping and assisting in the compilation and verification of research data, samples, and/or specimens (following strict protocol and detailed instructions). 2.
Workshop Facilitator (WF) for Special Events, Program and Projects: E.g. training nurses
• Ideal candidate must be able to provide leadership through high quality, dynamic workshop facilitation, structured coaching of proven skills, engagement of training participants in learning activities, and provision of group-case management to include the sharing of information. This WF will also provide oversight to additional trained coaches during skills practice sessions to occur during the workshop sessions. The WF will form a working alliance with participants to increase their active knowledge about the training program content, build their capacity to deploy a range of skills to improve their nursing practice, gain access to additional resources to meet their learning needs, and support meaningful behavior change that will have a positive impact on both the nurse participants and their current or future patient population.
• Prior experience in public speaking and good presentation skills, required
• Prior experience working with nurses a plus
• Prior experience providing skills
• Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Leading dynamic workshops for the MRL or on behalf of the Plas needed.
• Ensure curriculum fidelity by facilitating the curriculum as designed, participating in on-going community of practice activities, and developing a mastery of the content.
• Maintaining accurate workshop data, including attendance rosters, evaluations, and other reporting documents. Administer surveys at the first and last workshop to support the data collection requirements.
• Organizing in-house and offsite activities, like presentations, job simulations and role-playing exercises.
• Maintaining records of curriculum and materials and gathering feedback and evaluations on the quality of trainings from trainees, other instructors and managers.
