JOB DETAILS:

Mission/ Core purpose of the Job
• To support and supervise the VAS applications development team by ensuring timely delivery of solutions as per marketing/business needs
• To ensure adequate capacity planning and management of internal VAS applications/systems
• To ensure efficient and innovative solution and product designs for MTN U products and services as per marketing/business requirements
• Manage, develop and grow the VAS Apps team

Main Job Functions:
• Development and testing of solutions/products using any of the common programming languages according to the agreed specifications of the requesting department
• Optimization of existing VAS applications to ensure VAS systems performance meets customers’ expectations and maintains company KPIs and proactive monitoring of internally developed applications.
• Development of technical documents to be used for new products/solutions including technical specifications and operations and maintenance manuals
• Performing O&M tasks and provision of L3 support for resolution of incidents related to the internally developed applications
• Development of scripts to ensure efficient collection of statistics and generation of required reports
• Research into new VAS solutions or the improvement of existing ones
• Act as technical lead in VAS applications projects and manage the projects that are not run by the capital projects team
• To carry out research that results in new VAS applications solutions or the improvement of existing ones
• Manage and grow the software dev team

• Ensure proper VAS Application project and specification scoping before development
• Ensure best practice planning and development of all VAS Applications to ensure customer centricity targets
• Manage and grow the software dev team
• Research, plan, develop and deploy new/improved solutions
• Plan, coordinate and manage the implementation of marketing-Initiated projects
• Ensure effective business risk management in all activities
• Ensure that all plans and solutions are documented well for future reference
• Provide timely recommendations to ensure effective capacity planning for all VAS applications systems
• Accurate and regular performance reporting to the various stakeholders
• Champion automation and efficiency within the department
• Ensure resilience and redundancy within the VAS applications delivery platforms

Qualifications
Education:
• Bachelor of Science degree in Information Technology or Computer Science or any related degree

Experience:
• Experience managing a team of developers and enterprise software projects
• At least more than 4 personal programming endeavor (e.g. hackathon, personal or business application)
• More than 6 years of UNIX shell scripting/programming and database administration
• More than 6 years of experience developing and maintaining applications
