JOB DETAILS:
JOB PURPOSE:
Reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs and Public Relations, the Digital Specialist is accountable for the design and development of insight-driven digital strategies from opportunity identification through to experience definition. The role holder is responsible for the formulation of dfcu’s digital marketing strategy and implementation (delivery) thereof while ensuring the effectiveness of the results aligned with business, brand, and marketing objectives.
The role aims to grow our brand and business while influencing targeted consumers and/or businesses to choose dfcu’s products and services. The role leads the creation of compelling digital marketing campaigns and communication, that are creative, targeted, measurable and produce quantifiable results. The role holder will additionally be accountable for digital and social media listening, and proactive reputation management.

LOCATION: Kampala

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:
• Define and communicate dfcu’s digital marketing and communication NorthStar in alignment with the overall business objectives.
• Create, develop, and manage effective digital marketing and social media strategies that enable the realisation of brand and business objectives, while ensuring effectiveness of results.
• Guide dfcu’s “always on” paid media strategy, in addition to tent pole moments, to develop and continuously optimise our ideal channel mix.
• Develop and implement digital content marketing strategies to drive customer engagement, brand awareness and warmth.
• Optimise campaigns, analyse results, and provide insights and recommendations, to drive continuous execution refinement.
• Lead and drive thought leadership to uncover opportunities and lead thinking to capture both the audience’s needs/insights as well as business opportunities.
• Build digital and direct marketing, personalisation, performance marketing and digital reputation management frameworks & processes.
• Define and drive the implementation of a consistent test and learn methodology for digital and direct marketing activities to unlock revenue and efficiency.
• Refine dfcu’s analytics and reporting wheelhouse to develop a best-in-class approach for capturing actionable insights.
• Collaborate closely with the other centres of excellence (COEs) to integrate marketing data with customer data within dfcu to drive targeted, real-time advertising and messaging through digital and non-digital channels.
• Direct the user experience across dfcu’s owned assets including websites, applications, and other channels to develop innovative, meaningful, and differentiated digital experiences.
• Own the digital agency briefing processing, ensuring our creative briefs are clear and compelling, to inspire quality of output.
• Manage the digital agency and production teams (where applicable), to deliver digital marketing campaigns that are on-strategy, on target within due dates and budgets.
• Collaborate with colleagues within the wider marketing and communications teams, as well as creative/relevant agencies to ensure that digital strategies and executions are properly integrated within the larger marketing programs.
• Partner with the customer relations team to ensure customer queries and complaints are effectively handled, with continuous quality assurance to identify areas of improvement.
• Own the development and execution of key controls to ensure brand safety and reduce risk i.e., ensure dfcu’s channels are managed in compliance with regulatory guidance and operational controls.
• Act as a gatekeeper of dfcu’s digital and social media assets, collaborating with colleagues to achieve their business objectives, while staying true to our channel standards and guidelines.
• Accountable for social media listening through robust monitors across dfcu’s brands and areas of interest, enabling emerging issues to be proactively picked up.
• Develop and continuously refresh dfcu’s digital reputation management framework.
• Ensure that all dfcu’s owned digital marketing and communication assets; websites, social media channels, are updated.
• Refresh content where required, even though not dated, to ensure that our assets remain “fresh” and give reasons for repeat visits.
• Effectively manage the digital marketing budget, allocating resources efficiently to maximise ROI and ROAS.
• Drive long-term partnerships with key digital platforms, optimising the cost structure.
• Regular reporting of digital and social media marketing spends against defined goals.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business, or a related field; Master’s Degree a plus.
• Extensive experience with Digital Marketing, social listening, and Marketing automation platforms
• Deep understanding of brand and marketing principles, and how digital marketing supports brand strategies.
• This position requires an individual with a deep understanding of digital marketing and communication trends, the ability to analyse market and conversational data, and the creativity to implement campaigns/communications that resonate with our target audience driving consideration, acquisition, retention, and overall brand warmth.
• The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of driving brand and business growth through digital channels, building brand awareness, driving thought leadership, managing online brand reputation, and leading a high-performing external digital marketing (agency) team.
• Expertise in SEO, SEM, content marketing, email marketing, social media, and analytics tools
• Excellent analytical skills, with a keen understanding of how to interpret data to drive strategic decisions.
• Outstanding communication and presentation skills, capable of engaging and influencing internal and external agency partner teams.
• Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to inspire teammates and hold them accountable for high-quality performance.
