Lutheran World Federation (LWF) Uganda is part of the Lutheran World Federation Department for World Service (LWF-DWS), an international humanitarian and development agency. LWF World Service partners include Lutheran Churches and their related agencies, the European commission (ECHO), the US Government (BPRM), UNHCR, IOM, UNICEF, UNFPA among others, with whom LWF World Service is a key implementing partner. LWF-Uganda currently supports Congolese and South-Sudanese refugees living in settlements in the districts of Kamwenge, Adjumani, Moyo, Kyangwali and Lamwo respectively with access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene services, community services, protection,’ psychosocial support, livelihoods and environmental conservation.
The LWF Uganda is looking for mature, qualified and experienced persons for the following position:
Job Title: Advocacy Officer
Place of Assignment: Kampala Head Office
Report to: Programs Coordinator
Job Summary: To deliver coordinated and integrated advocacy interventions and oversee the implementation of the Universal Periodic Review (UPR) process in LWF Uganda Country Program as well as aligning this project with rights-based approaches at community level to ensure that communities are able to access their fundamental rights, and meet their needs, not through service delivery by external actors, but by structural changes where duty-bearers (national and international) hold themselves accountable and ensure implementation..

Required Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
• University degree in law preferably with specialization in criminal or international law
• Diploma in Legal Practice;
• Master or higher qualification in the relevant field is an added advantage.
• At least (3) years’ experience in designing and implementing activities related to advocacy
• Ability to exercise sound legal judgment, well organized, self-motivated and reliable with a demonstrated interest in international & National human rights;
• Demonstrated compassion for refugees, asylum seekers, displaced people;
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing;
• Ability to deal with complex legal issues into reader-friendly and policy relevant language
