Mount Kenya University Rwanda is an International University committed to a broad base, holistic and inclusive system of Education. The University is ISD 9001:2015 certified and a member of the Inter-University Council for East Africa and Association of Common Wealth Universities. It offers a wide range of Academic and Professional courses through flexible modes that include online, face to face, day and weekend and Institutional based learning (School based).
The University is looking for a Senior Academic staff for the position of:
Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic and Research Affairs renewable alter a five-year term. .

RESPONSIBILITIES
The position is the highest Academic leadership position within the University's structure and one will be responsible for the implementation of the institutional strategic plan focussing on the key areas of teaching, research, scholarship, community engagement and realising the academic mandate of the University and lead by example. The position is part of the Executive Management of the University, and is also responsible for University-wide strategic, and the successful governance and Management of the University in line with its vision, mission and goals.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
• PhD/Doctorate Degree in a discipline relevant to the University;
• An established Academic leader and Scholar with an excellent Publication and Research record and proven excellence in teaching and learning at a level that attracts respect and credibility from within the University, International Scholars and other relevant external bodies;
• Demonstrated track record of fundraising and attracting competitive Research grants;
• Five (5) years’ experience in the leadership of a School, Faculty, Research or Business unit of significant size and complexity;
• Five (5) years‘ experience of Management and Development of staff in the achievement of Institutional objectives;
• Understanding of the Higher Education environment in Rwanda and the relevant legislation AND
• Abroad understanding of developments in the various disciplines within the University at a national, regional and global level.


The University is looking for an individual with strong interpersonal capabilities, who is an institutional leader, able to foster interpersonal relationships within the University involving staff, students and across institutions and stakeholders.
