Background: War Child Canada (WCC) is an international charity, with the vision of “a world where no child knows war”. War Child Canada works with war affected communities to help children reclaim their childhood through access to education, opportunities and justice with cross cutting themes of child protection and gender. War Child Canada also takes an active role in raising public awareness around the impact of war on communities and the shared responsibility to act. Currently WCC is implementing a protection and access to justice project in Palabek Refugee Settlement in Lamwo district in partnership with UN Women under two main project outcomes of, 1) Increasing access to emergency lifesaving protection, including
SGBV legal aid services for South Sudanese refugee and host community women and girls through rights based approach that promotes gender equality and women’s empowerment; and 2) Increasing refugee and host communities knowledge about and contribution to environmental protection and conservation. To fulfill this dream, War Child Canada is currently seeking for dynamic, qualified individuals to fill the following positions.
Position: Environment Protection Assistant.
Duty Station: Lamwo
Contract: 5 months, with possibility of extension.
Reports to: Environment Protection Officer. .

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Environment Protection Officer, the Environment Protection Assistant will be responsible for the planning and effective implementation of all community based activities of the project, including provision of support to community based environment volunteers, Community based Organizations (CBOs), community mobilization and awareness raising, identification and registration of beneficiaries, distribution of tree seedlings and monitoring the performance of plated tree seedlings.

Knowledge and Experience:
• Diploma in Environmental Protection, Natural Resource Management or related discipline.
• Minimum experience of 2 years of relevant experience.
• Ability to mobilize communities and work with volunteers
• Valid Riding licensemobilization.
