Governance Systems International is a multi-disciplinary consulting firm with a continental transformative vision of tackling Africa's development challenges. GSI offers solution-oriented consulting services to national/ Sub-national governments, private sector companies and CSOs in Uganda and other African Countries. Our main areas of expertise are Decentralization and local governance, Public Finance Management, Water and sanitation, Environment and natural resources, Solid Waste Management, Agriculture and food security, Energy and Transport infrastructure, Cities and Urban development and private sector development. GSI implements long term and short-term projects and programs funded by AfDB European Commission (ECJ. World Bank. GIZ. KfW, DANIDA, USAID, AFD, European investment Bank (EIB) and other local and international organizations.
GSI is currently looking at recruiting a fulltime Private Sector Development Specialist for two-year Sustainable Business for Uganda Platform-SB4U .

Required Qualifications and experience
• Strong experience in policy analysis and formulation In areas relevant to investment climate and Trade promotion
• Knowledge of investment climate issues in Uganda.
• Strong communications and advocacy skills; ability to interface effectively with government and private sector.
• Strong written communications skills. able to support other team members in their interface with public and private sector leaders.
• At least 7 years of relevant government or private sector experience in economic analysis and policy formulation
• Fluent in English
• Minimum of a master's or equivalent degree in economics. public policy. law. business. or a related field.

Roles and Responsibilities:
The Private Sector Development Specialist will: Assist the Director with sorting through Working Group’: proposals. coordination or drafting of issues papers that emerge from working groups and elaborate on initial regulatory or policy proposals made by working groups or individual entrepreneurs, applying cost benefit analysis to reform Ideas. Participate In the implementation of the action plan; Participate in working group meetings and maintain dialogue and support to technical committees; Provide technical support to private sector participants on economic and policy analysis; Research and draft background papers and policy notes on issues identified by working groups, as needed on a demand-driven basis; Conduct economic analysis of reform proposals as needed; maintain links to private sector, and to policy specialists in government institutions and within the donor community to ensure viability of proposed reforms; Assist the Director in other PPD related activities.
