Position Summary:
Because our mission is global, urgent, and enormous, the person in this position must have the temperament and energy to be a leader in an entrepreneurial environment. The person must have the ability and be willing to fulfill multiple responsibilities. He or she must not only be comfortable in, but be energized by highly fluid, rapidly changing work environments. At WMU we work as a team. All employees must show initiative and seek to improve the way things are done and to conduct the work in an increasingly cost-effective manner. Because WMU seeks to share the news of the Living Water, all employees are expected to share the gospel through their words and actions. Under the direction of the WASH Manager and or Lead Engineer, this position is responsible for performing engineering tasks within the Country Program following established standards and procedures. This position requires that the person resides either in Northern or Eastem Uganda. The position requires travel to remote locations within the respective region to carry out assessments, inspections, or training. .

Position Responsibilities:
• Provide technical direction and assistance for technicians, contractors, and volunteers in the field.
• Provide onsite project management in support of approved projects. Conduct field inspections and site assessments as needed under the direction of the Lead Engineer and or WASH Manager.

• Maintain regular contact with supervisors and stakeholders through timely reporting.
• Perform engineering tasks including water hydraulic design calculations, and development of plans, specifications, and structural drawings.
• Conduct engineering field work and design according to the established engineering principles and standards to a high degree of excellence and dependable accuracy.
• Layout and design of water systems including source, pumping, treatment, storage and distribution.
• Perform assessments in communities, including water quality and quantity testing, survey measurements and other aspects as may be required.
• Write proposals and apply for grants.

Qualifications Required:
• Personal and living relationship with Jesus Christ as Savior.
• Alignment with Water Mission's Statement of Faith and Core Values of Love, Excellence, and Integrity.
• Alignment with the principles of servant leadership as embraced by Water Mission.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering required. Preference will be given to Civil, Chemical, or Mechanical degrees.
• Post Graduate Degree in Project Planning and Management Corporate Member with UIPE.
• +5 years of experience in water and/or wastewater engineering
• Experience in proposal and grant writing. Practical experience in project management.
• Advanced skills with office computer programs.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills (English & Luganda/Lusoga/Luo).
• Excellent analytical skills, project planning, monitoring and management skills.
