Description
Ruko Establishments Milk Factory is hiring Driver (13) responsible for safely transporting dairy products, materials, and company personnel between the factory, customers, and distribution centers. This role ensures timely delivery of goods while maintaining high standards of vehicle safety, hygiene, and customer service. The position requires a reliable, disciplined, and experienced driver with a good understanding of road safety, product handling, and field distribution within the FMCG or dairy sector.
Duty Station: Kiruhura, Uganda
Reports to: Sales and Marketing Supervisor
Duties, Roles and Responsibilities
Transportation & Delivery
- Drive company vehicles to deliver dairy products and goods to customers, distributors, and collection centers on schedule.
- Load and offload goods, ensuring safe handling and correct quantities as per delivery documentation.
- Verify delivery documents, customer invoices, and product quantities before departure and upon delivery.
- Ensure that all deliveries are completed efficiently and in good condition.
Vehicle Maintenance & Safety
- Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any mechanical issues promptly.
- Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of the vehicle at all times, especially when transporting dairy products.
- Ensure that the vehicle is always fuelled, serviced, and roadworthy.
- Adhere strictly to traffic laws, road safety regulations, and company driving policies.
Record Keeping & Reporting
- Maintain accurate delivery logs, mileage records, and fuel consumption reports.
- Record delivery times, destinations, and quantities in coordination with the sales and logistics team.
- Report any accidents, delays, or route challenges immediately to the supervisor.
Customer Relations & Field Support
- Represent the company professionally during interactions with customers and partners.
- Collect feedback from customers regarding deliveries and report any concerns to the Sales and Marketing Supervisor.
- Support the sales team by ensuring prompt and efficient delivery to maintain customer satisfaction.
Compliance & Safety
- Observe all company safety protocols, including product handling and loading procedures.
- Attend periodic defensive driving and safety training sessions.
- Ensure security of goods and company property during transport.
Qualifications, Education and Competencies
- Education: Minimum of Uganda Certificate of Education (O’Level).
- Professional Training: Valid Driving Certificate from a recognized institution.
- Driving License: Must possess valid CM and CH driving license classes.
- Experience: 2–3 years of experience driving in the sales or distribution of FMCG products, preferably in a dairy or food manufacturing environment.
- Added Advantage: Defensive Driving Certificate.
Skills and Competencies:
- Excellent knowledge of road networks and routes within assigned regions.
- Strong attention to safety, vehicle care, and time management.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Physically fit and able to load/offload goods when required.
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
- Delivery Timeliness: Percentage of deliveries completed within scheduled time.
- Product Integrity: Number of deliveries made without product loss or damage.
- Vehicle Maintenance: Frequency of breakdowns or maintenance issues due to driver negligence.
- Fuel Efficiency: Fuel usage compared to mileage covered.
- Customer Satisfaction: Positive feedback and complaint resolution rate.
- Documentation Accuracy: Completeness and accuracy of delivery and mileage records.
- Safety Compliance: Adherence to traffic laws, safety procedures, and zero accident record.
- Team Coordination: Level of support provided to sales and logistics teams in daily operations.
