Description
aBi Development Ltd is hiring Driver (2) who warrants seamless mobility of the Program staff by ensuring safe, timely and efficient of people, goods, and materials as required by the organization while adhering with the relevant traffic laws, safety protocols, and operational procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
-
- Transport services
- Drive Program Staff, Partners and visitors and goods safely and securely to their destination at all times while complying with the laws of Uganda, program procedures and best practice in customer care. Plan and execute all trips in accordance with the EYE-C program travel schedule, ensuring punctuality and efficient route selection. Trips are planned and executed on schedule, with no avoidable delays or deviations from planned routes.
- Feedback from passengers indicates high levels of professionalism and customer care during transport services.
- Provide safe, courteous, and reliable driving services to program staff, partners and visitors, ensuring trips are conducted efficiently.
- Maintain a professional demeanour and provide excellent customer care to staff, partners and visitors during transport services.
- Participate in team meetings and provide input on ways to improve transport and administrative processes.
- Goods handling
- To handle goods safely and securely to their destination; at all times complying with the Ensure that all materials and equipment stored in the vehicle are properly secured and protected. Goods are transported safely and securely, with no damage or loss reported during handling or transit.
- Documentation of goods, including delivery notes and receipts, is

- Ensure the vehicle is taken to an approved garage for scheduled maintenance and servicing.
- Maintain a detailed logbook to document all trips and submit comprehensive monthly vehicle status reports to the supervisor.
- Maintain the entrusted vehicle in a clean and well-presented state at all times.
- Ensure the vehicle is parked securely and in compliance with safety standards.
- Daily vehicle checks are conducted consistently, with any issues reported and addressed within the required timelines.
- Vehicles are maintained in good condition, adhering to servicing schedules, with minimal instances of breakdowns due to negligence. Vehicles are kept clean and organized, meeting organizational safety and hygiene standards at all times.
- Report incidents promptly to the supervisor, Program Director, Head of People & Culture, and when necessary to the law enforcement of any mechanical issues, accidents, or thefts.
- Traffic Laws and Regulations
- To maintain the safety and integrity of the EYE-C Program’s transportation operations by strictly adhering to traffic laws and regulations.
- Ensure that both you and all passengers wear seat belts at all times before starting the journey to comply with safety protocols.
- At all times, obey speed limits, the Highway Code and laws pertaining to road use.
- Comply with road closures and detours and other temporary traffic changes.
- Compliance with traffic regulations and EYE – C program transport policies is maintained at all times, with no reported incidents or violations. Completion of Mandatory trainings
- Attend mandatory training sessions related to traffic regulatory compliance as required by the EYE – C Program.
- And any other duties as requested by the Finance Manager or Regional Program Lead (depending on Office Location)
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

- A Level Certificate
- Valid driver’s license Experience
- 3 years of driving experience Technical skills & knowledge
- Strong understanding and practical knowledge of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Ability to administer first aid in emergency situations to ensure safety and well-being.
- Strong knowledge of road safety regulations
- Ability to assess tasks and effectively prioritize work based on urgency and importance.
- Ability to express ideas clearly and professionally in English, both in writing and speaking.
