Background information about the job or company
Makerere University has received funding from the Governments of Uganda and South Korea to implement the Improvement of Makerere University Project. Makerere University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the various project staff positions.
Responsibilities or duties
Role: Manage the project’s financial payments and reports.
- Prepare regular project financial reports.
- Check for compliance of payment documents.
- Produce within agreed timeframes and in the standard formats, monthly financial statements and financial management reports.
- Implement adequate internal controls to manage project financial and physical resources effectively, ensuring their efficient and economic use.
- Coordinate accounting and financial arrangements for various project components and categories, adhering to Economic Development Cooperation Fund (EDCF) reporting guidelines.
- Support the timely annual financial audit and the value-for-money audit of the project.
- Submit timely reports to the Supervisor
Qualifications or requirements
- An honors Bachelor of Commerce Degree or Bachelor of Business Administration.
- Qualification in either CPA or ACCA.
- Knowledge of the Government of Uganda Integrated Financial Management System will be an added advantage.
- Advanced information technology and numeracy skills;
- Good communication & interpersonal skills;
- Team building skills;
- Integrity;
Experience needed
At least eight (8) years of practical experience in financial management or related accounting duties, three of which should be at the level of Principal Officer or equivalent at a reputable organization.

- Applicants must be Ugandans.
- Applicants for all positions must not exceed 55 years of age at the time of application.
- Academic qualifications must be from recognized academic institutions.
