Description
Reapers Cooperative Society is hiring an Accountant to focus on financial oversight and analysis, including accounts-level monitoring, financial forecasting, contingency planning, and reporting. The purpose is to plan, design, and coordinate the implementation of a robust SACCO accounting, financial management, and internal control system.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide oversight in risk, governance, conformance, and adherence to internal controls.
- Supervise preparation of financial reports (e.g., income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements), management accounts, and statutory accounts per ISA, IESBA, GAAP, and IFRS standards.
- Coordinate annual budgets and rolling business plans.
- Identify investment alternatives while mitigating currency risk exposure.
- Ensure a healthy loan book and growth of member savings portfolio.
- Conduct monthly budget monitoring, reconciliation, and variance analysis.
- Ensure tax compliance (VAT, WHT, NSSF, PAYE, Corporate tax) and manage correspondence with the tax regulator.
- Oversee treasury management, including cash flows, banking arrangements, and payment disbursements.
- Supervise accurate payroll preparation and disbursement.
- Verify expenditure and procurement requisitions/payments.
- Participate in project proposal design, budget review, and tracking.
- Ensure accurate data feeds, data safety, and risk management in accounting software.
- Coordinate timely internal and statutory audits and implement audit recommendations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s/BSc in Commerce, Business Administration (Accounting major), or Accounting & Finance.
- CPA or ACCA qualification.
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years of relevant work experience.
