Background
Makerere University has received funding from the Governments of Uganda and South Korea to implement the Improvement of Makerere University Project. Makerere University invites applications from suitably qualified candidates for the various project staff positions.
Qualifications
- Honors bachelor’s degree in architecture
Other requirements
- Should have experience in the design and construction of educational facilities;
- The applicant shall be computer literate and knowledgeable in the use of standard architectural software, e.g., ArchiCAD, AutoCAD.
- Experience in undertaking similar roles for similar infrastructure projects.
Experience
- At least eight (8) years of experience as an Architect, 3 of which should be as a registered Architect with the Architect Registration Board (ARB).
Roles and Responsibilities
- Review architectural designs and documents of the various proposed facilities under the project.
- Review specifications of the proposed designs and project equipment.
- Manage all projects’ architectural and technical records.
- Ensure that construction work complies with drawings, specifications, and codes.
- Supervise contractors and subcontractors for technical accuracy and quality within time and cost.
- Monitor safety compliance based on national regulations and project-specific safety plans.
- Submit project reports to the Project Engineer.
Competencies
- Good Communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills;
- Proficient in using relevant computer packages;
- Teamwork & team building;
- Ability to multitask effectively;
Additional Notes
- Applicants must be Ugandans.
- Applicants for all positions must not exceed 55 years of age at the time of application.
- Academic qualifications must be from recognized academic institutions.
