Uganda Railways Corporation (URC) is a body Corporate established by the URC Act. The mandate of the Corporation is to undertake Construction, Operation and Maintenance of Railway, Marine and Road services, both in and outside of Uganda for the carriage of passengers and goods. Applications are invited from suitable qualified Ugandans to fill the following positions:

Responsibilities or duties

• Performing skilled manual work in the maintenance, repair, and renewal of the permanent way, including rails, sleepers, and fastenings .
• Carrying out specific tasks such as rail renewal, sleeper replacement, and the service and repair of turnouts and level crossings .
• Operating tools and light machinery for track maintenance, including tampers, rail saws, and drilling equipment .
• Performing welding and grinding of rails as required to maintain a smooth track surface .
• Assisting with the loading, unloading, and stacking of permanent way materials and ensuring they are stored properly .
• Carrying out site cleanliness and ensuring the work area is safe and free of debris .
• Responding to and performing emergency repairs to the track as directed by the Inspector .
• Maintaining and carrying out minor repairs to the tools and equipment in their charge .
