Role Overview
The Assistant Accountant will play a crucial role in maintaining accurate financial records and ensuring compliance with various regulations. This full-time position will be based in Kampala with a hybrid work arrangement. You will work closely with the Senior Accountant, contributing to our financial operations in a collaborative team environment. - Reporting Structure: Reports to Senior Accountant
Key Responsibilities
1. Check figures, postings, and documents for correct entry, mathematical accuracy, and proper codes.
2. Prepare bank deposits by compiling data from cashiers, verifying and balancing receipts, and sending cash, checks, or other forms of payment to banks.
3. Compile budget data and documents, based on estimated revenues and expenses and previous budgets.
4. Calculate and prepare checks for utilities, taxes, and other payments.
5. Receive, record, and bank cash, checks, and vouchers.
6. Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Education: Post-secondary Diploma in Accounting, Business Administration, or other related fields.
- Experience: 1-2 years of relevant experience.
- Required Skills: Mathematics, Reading Comprehension, Active Listening, Critical Thinking, Time Management.
- Required Knowledge Areas: Customer and Personal Service, Administrative, Economics and Accounting, Computers and Electronics.
- Required Technology Knowledge: Accounting software (Bookkeeping), Document management software (Filing and computer knowledge), Financial analysis software (Understanding business terminologies), Word processing software (Microsoft Word), Business intelligence and data analysis software (Excel to excellence).
- Language Proficiency: English
