About the Role
Reporting to the Business Development Manager -Bancassurance, the Business Development Officer – Bancassurance role will drive insurance sales through the bank branch network by promoting bancassurance products, building strong relationships with bank staff and customers, and ensuring achievement of set sales targets while delivering excellent customer service.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Sales & Business Development
- Proactively promote and sell bancassurance products to existing and prospective bank customers.
- Achieve monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets across assigned branches.
- Drive profitable business both New and Renewals
- Ensure timely collection of premiums from the banks;
- Conduct customer needs analysis and recommend appropriate insurance packages tailored to client profiles.
- Generate quality leads through branch walk-ins, customer referrals, and bank relationship managers.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline to ensure consistent business growth.
- Follow up on prospects and convert leads into policy sales.
- Participate in branch sales campaigns, activations, and marketing initiatives to drive insurance uptake.
- Organize customer engagement activities such as product presentations, financial advisory sessions, and insurance awareness events.
- Monitor market trends, competitor offerings, and customer needs to identify new sales opportunities.
- Support branch teams in identifying high-potential clients for insurance products.
- Ensure timely closure of sales and proper onboarding of new insurance clients.
Relationship Management
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with branch teams to drive continuous insurance referrals.
- Support Relationship Managers and branch leadership in identifying high‑potential insurance clients.
- Provide timely feedback to bank teams on pipeline status and product uptake.
- Act as a key liaison between the branch network and the bancassurance function.
Customer Service Excellence
- Offer professional, clear, and accurate insurance advisory services to customers.
- Ensure customers fully understand policy benefits, exclusions, terms, and conditions before purchase.
- Guide customers through policy applications, documentation, and onboarding processes.
- Follow up on pending applications, queries, and post-sale service issues to ensure a seamless experience.
Training & Awareness
- Train and support branch staff on insurance products, sales techniques, and customer handling.
- Conduct regular product presentations, refresher sessions, and awareness campaigns at the branch.
- Update branch teams on new products, promotions, campaigns, and underwriting changes.
- Promote a strong insurance sales culture across the assigned branches.
Compliance & Documentation
- Ensure all insurance sales comply with regulatory requirements, internal policies, and ethical standards.
- Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date records of client interactions, proposals, and sales activities.
- Ensure proper completion, accuracy, and timely submission of policy forms and supporting documents.
- Adhere strictly to AML, KYC, and product suitability guidelines.

- Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly sales reports as required.
- Track leads, conversions, loss ratios, and pipeline performance to support sales forecasting.
- Provide actionable market feedback and competitor intelligence to management.
- Highlight emerging opportunities and risks to strengthen market positioning.

Academic & Professional Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking and insurance, Business Administration, Marketing, or a related discipline.
- Professional insurance qualification such as ACII, CII, Diploma in Insurance
Experience
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience
