Call for Applications: Graduate Volunteer Opportunities (300)

Are you a recent graduate or aspiring professional seeking practical, hands-on experience to launch and advance your career? The Ministry of Gender, Labour and Social Development, with financing from the Government of Uganda, invites applications for Graduate Volunteer Opportunities under the National Apprenticeship Programme (NAP).

Programme Benefits

This programme provides a unique opportunity for unemployed graduates to:
i. Gain practical workplace experience
ii. Build professional networks
iii. Acquire work-readiness skills
iv. Enhance their transition into the labour market

The initiative addresses youth unemployment, underemployment, skills mismatches, and the lack of workplace exposure among graduates. It enables unemployed graduates to acquire valuable skills while contributing to national development through volunteer placements in both public and private institutions.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must meet the following minimum requirements:
i. Hold at least a Certificate from a Tertiary institution, or Diploma, or Honours Bachelor's Degree, or Master's Degree or equivalent qualification) from a recognised institution;
ii. Have completed within the last five years (2021 to date);
iii. Be between 18 and 35 years of age at the time of application;
iv. Demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in diverse teams and with stakeholders;
v. Exhibit integrity, accountability, and ethical conduct, with a willingness to learn and adapt to professional settings; and
vi. Possess basic proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Familiarity with digital collaboration platforms (e.g., Google Workspace, Zoom, Teams) will be an added advantage.
