Job Purpose:
Initiate, develop and monitor the implementation of financial control systems, policies and procedures to maintain sound financial practices and discipline at MHS.
Duties and Responsibilities:
1. To initiate, monitor and review timely preparation and submission of management accounts and financial statements and forecasts.
2. To coordinate and manage the annual budgeting and planning process.
3. To develop and monitor the implementation of the company strategic plan and ensure that periodical reviews are conducted.
4. Facilitate business turnaround through timely payment of suppliers and contractors.
5. Manage an integrated financial management system.
6. To monitor the financial performance of MHS against approved revenue and expenditure estimates and prepare regular reports.
7. To facilitate capacity building of staff on matters of financial statutory reporting to ensure timely completion of key financial plans and processes.
8. To identify new avenues for MHS to acquire more development partners and develop
proposals to generate funds for the company.
9. To supervise, guide and manage staff performance directly under him/her.
10. To assist the Managing Director in managing the company income and expenditure.
11. To monitor regularly and review the cost structure for all MHS products to ensure proper pricing of products.
12. To develop and monitor the implementation of a strategy for facilitating periodic internal, external and audits.
13. To assist the Managing Director to prepare responses to audit queries and implement audit recommendations.
14. To advise non-finance staff in understanding and interpretation of financial matters.
15. To advise management and the Board of Directors on budgetary controls.
16. To perform any other duties as may be assigned by the Managing Director.
Qualifications and Experience:
1. Bachelor’s (Hon) degree in Accounting or Finance.
2. Possession of relevant professional qualification such as ACCA, ACA, or CPA, ICSA is a must.
3. Membership of the ICPA is a requirement.
4. Master’s degree in Finance or Accounting.
5. Knowledge of international financing systems is an added advantage.
6. At least eight (8) years’ work experience, 5 of which should have been at a senior financial management and accounting level in a busy reputable private or multinational company.
Key Competences:
• Should be knowledgeable in SAP accounting systems.
• He/she should be a strategic planner.
• Have knowledge of the tax regimes in Uganda.
• Good analytical skills.
• Prudent financial management skills.
• Excellent numeric skills.
• Excellent planning and budgeting skills.
• Strong relationship management skills.
• Should be creative and innovative.
• Ability to embrace change.
• He/she should be a person of high integrity.
• Results oriented.
• Effective communication and interpersonal relations skills.
• He/she should be a team builder
