Your mission
At War Child, we have an ambitious strategy to see our evidence-based interventions reach more children in conflict-affected areas through localisation, partnership, and collaboration. As our Communications Advisor, Scaling, you will support these global scaling ambitions by preparing and executing strategic communications plans that boost global visibility through a range of tactics. This includes developing, publishing, and coordinating communication materials to enhance visibility, support fundraising efforts, and promote the impact of these interventions on a global scale.
Your role will involve corporate storytelling to effectively communicate our mission and successes. You will need to be creative in your approach to donor communications and capacity building within our team. Building and maintaining strong relationships with various stakeholders is crucial, as is engaging our audience through targeted audience engagement strategies. Additionally, you will be responsible for corporate content planning to ensure consistent and impactful messaging across all platforms. You will also identify a range of sector events, conferences, and spaces where War Child could have a presence to further our reach and impact.
Your Team
You will be part of the Global Communications department within the War Child Alliance. In this role, you will work with colleagues in the Programme Quality and Scaling teams, as well as those leading the implementation and scaling of War Child’s evidence-based interventions, which include TeamUp, Can’t Wait to Learn, SEEDS, and Be There. Your role will be managed by the Head of Communications.
The Global Communications department is a hybrid team responsible for global brand and positioning, reputation, and content production. The team also advises and supports internal departments or country offices upon request.
What you will do:
- Enhance Visibility:
- Develop and disseminate high-quality communication materials, including newsletters, blogs, social media content, visuals, videos, and reports.
- Identify key media and target these outlets or individuals with success stories our Evidence based methodologies and scaling that amplify War Child visibility and attract new partners.
- Support the development or revision of communications guidance and resources on evidence-based interventions.
- Support Fundraising Efforts:
- Collaborate with fundraising teams (including partners) to align communication outputs with fundraising goals.
- Develop donor-centric communication materials and campaigns to attract and retain donors.
- Stakeholder Engagement:
- Coordinate with program teams, partners, and stakeholders to gather impactful stories and data.
- Organize and facilitate webinars and events to engage stakeholders and promote outcomes.
- Support the collection, management, and distribution of Scaling-related content.
- Monitor and Evaluate Impact:
- Track and report on the effectiveness of communication strategies and activities.
- Utilize feedback and analytics to continuously improve communication efforts.
Your profile
- Experience: Proven experience in developing and implementing communication strategies for global programmes.
- Humanitarian/NGO Background: Experience in humanitarian or NGO settings in communications, media, journalism, or similar roles.
- Language Skills: Excellent English writing, editing, and content creation skills. French, Arabic, or Spanish language skills are an asset.
- Audience Adaptation: Ability to translate academic or technical language to specific and general audiences.
- Collaboration: Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
- Sector Knowledge: Knowledge of the education and psychosocial support sectors is an asset.
- Technical Skills: Graphic design, video editing, photography, digital channel management (social media and website) experience is an asset.
