Description
Strategic Engagement Limited is hiring Data Collectors to play a critical role in gathering accurate, timely, and reliable information from communities affected by emergencies. This data helps inform needs assessments, program planning, monitoring, and accountability efforts.
Location: All stations, 5 per region
Job Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection
- Conduct household surveys, key informant interviews, focus group discussions, and observation assessments in affected communities.
- Use digital tools (e.g., KoboToolbox, ODK, CommCare) or paper-based forms to collect data.
- Follow sampling procedures and data collection protocols provided by the MEAL team.
- Community Engagement
- Engage respectfully and sensitively with beneficiaries and stakeholders.
- Ensure informed consent is obtained and confidentiality is maintained.
- Identify and report any feedback, complaints, or protection concerns raised by community members.
- Data Quality and Integrity
- Review collected data for completeness, consistency, and accuracy before submission.
- Flag errors, inconsistencies, or concerns to supervisors or MEAL staff promptly.
- Adhere to ethical and data protection standards in all field activities.
- Coordination and Reporting
- Participate in team briefings, debriefings, and daily coordination meetings.
- Submit completed tools/forms on time as per agreed schedules.
- Provide field updates and share observations relevant to program improvement.
Key Outcomes
- High-quality, usable data collected to inform humanitarian response decisions.
- Data collection activities are completed on time and to required standards.
- Communities feel respected, heard, and engaged during the data collection process.
- Early signs of program gaps, needs, or risks are flagged and escalated appropriately.
Work Environment
- Field-based, working in affected and often remote areas, sometimes under difficult conditions.
- Travel on foot or by vehicle to reach respondents; fieldwork may include long hours.
- Requires strict adherence to security, safety, and safeguarding protocols.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum secondary school education (diploma preferred).
- Previous experience in field data collection, surveys, or humanitarian fieldwork an asset.
- Familiarity with local context, culture, and languages.
- Basic digital literacy; experience using smartphones or tablets for data entry is a plus.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to maintain neutrality, confidentiality, and professionalism.
