YIDA Youth Initiative is a youth-led refugee organization dedicated to fostering development and empowerment in the Kyaka II Refugee Settlement. Established to address critical challenges, YIDA focuses on creating job opportunities by promoting education for children and providing skills training for youth. The organization is primarily composed of refugees, with 95% of its members being young people from the refugee community. YIDA operates through two major flagship programs Early Childhood EduScation (ECE): Focused on providing foundational education for children to enhance their learning and development. Entrepreneurship and Financial Inclusion: Aimed at equipping youth with entrepreneurial skills and promoting financial literacy to foster self-reliance and economic growth.
Responsibilities or duties
We are seeking highly motivated and detail-oriented Data Collectors to collect data from previously trained entrepreneurs. The successful candidate will be responsible for collecting, recording, and reporting data on the entrepreneurs' business progress, challenges, and successes.
- Conduct surveys and interviews: Conduct surveys and interviews with previously trained entrepreneurs to collect data on their business progress, challenges, and successes.
- Collect and record data: Collect and record data on entrepreneurs' business performance, including revenue, employment, and market trends.
- Verify data accuracy: Verify the accuracy of collected data and ensure that it is complete and consistent.
- Report findings: Report findings to the program management team, highlighting trends, challenges, and successes.
- Maintain confidentiality: Maintain a high level of confidentiality of all data collected and ensure that it is stored securely.
- Collaborate with the program team: Collaborate with the program team to identify areas for improvement and provide recommendations for future program development.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
Education: Diploma in the field of entrepreneurship, business, economics or statistics, social sciences.
Skills:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Language: Fluency in English and local languages used in the settlement and the host community (Swahili, Kinyabwisha and/or Rutooro/ Runyankore).
Experience needed
At least 1 year of experience in data collection, research, or a related field and he/she must be staying in Kyaka II Refugee Settlement.

Must be a resident of Kyaka 2 or Kyegegwa.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with school going children and youth entrepreneurs or small business owners.
- Knowledge of business operations, including finance, marketing, and management.
- Experience working with refugees and in hard-to-reach areas.
