Description
Strategic Engagement Limited is hiring Data Enumerators responsible for collecting accurate and timely data from affected populations through surveys, interviews, and assessments. The information gathered supports humanitarian planning, monitoring, and evaluation of emergency and relief interventions.
Location: All stations, 5 per region
Job Type: Full-Time
Key Responsibilities
- Data Collection
- Conduct household surveys, individual interviews, and group discussions as instructed.
- Use digital data collection tools (e.g., Kobo Toolbox, ODK, SurveyCTO) or paper-based questionnaires as required.
- Ensure questions are asked clearly, respectfully, and without bias.
- Ethical Engagement
- Explain the purpose of the survey to participants and obtain informed consent.
- Ensure data confidentiality and sensitivity, especially when working with vulnerable populations (e.g., children, displaced persons, or survivors of violence).
- Report any protection concerns or community feedback to the supervisor.
- Data Quality Assurance
- Accurately record responses and submit data according to instructions and deadlines.
- Double-check forms or devices for completeness before submission.
- Promptly flag errors, inconsistencies, or challenges in the field.
- Team Coordination
- Attend daily briefings and training sessions.
- Collaborate with other enumerators and supervisors to cover target areas efficiently.
- Follow instructions regarding safety, communication, and conduct during fieldwork.
Key Outcomes
- Complete and high-quality datasets submitted on time.
- Communities feel respected and clearly understand the purpose of the data collection.
- Enumerators follow ethical standards and maintain confidentiality.
- Survey targets are met in line with the data collection schedule.
Work Environment
- Field-based; often working in remote, emergency-affected, or under-resourced areas.
- Data collection may involve walking long distances, working in difficult weather, or irregular hours.
- Enumerators must follow field security protocols at all times.
- Work may be conducted under time pressure in dynamic humanitarian settings.
Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum secondary education; diploma or higher preferred.
- Previous experience in data collection or field surveys preferred.
- Familiarity with mobile data collection tools (Kobo Toolbox, ODK) is an asset.
- Fluency in local language(s) and basic English.
- Good communication, interpersonal skills, and cultural sensitivity.
- Ability to work independently, follow instructions, and meet deadlines.
