Background
Housing Finance Bank is hiring a Database Administrator to manage all database systems on which the bank’s mission-critical business applications run. The role holder is responsible for building new databases and schemas as required and for efficiently executing business cycles in accordance with the bank’s policies, procedures, and operational guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Database Administration & Performance: Install, upgrade, and administer databases across all environments (UAT, Production, Regression, DR). Manage ASM and storage to ensure optimal resource utilization. Continuously monitor databases for peak performance and proactively resolve issues.
Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity: Coordinate the development and execution of Data Disaster Recovery and Business Continuity Plans (BCPs), ensuring alignment with bank guidelines and industry best practices.
Data Integrity & Availability: Ensure Disaster Recovery (DR) and Production databases are synchronized. Manage Oracle Data Guard configurations and perform routine database backups, restorations, and recovery tests.
Database Security: Enforce robust database security by controlling user creation, granting privileges, managing roles, implementing database encryption, and maintaining audit trails.
MIS & Data Warehousing: Support business intelligence through data mining and extraction. Develop and deliver meaningful, accurate reports to business teams as required.
Service Level Management: Ensure the Database environment meets all agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs) for availability, performance, and support.
Process Documentation: Continuously review, update, and maintain all database procedures, configurations, and architecture documentation.
Issue Resolution: Troubleshoot and resolve database-related issues logged by users within the defined SLAs.
Business Process Execution: Reliably perform close of business (COB) and other critical database processes in line with the bank’s policies and procedures.
Reporting: Develop and submit monthly database performance and capacity reports.
Automation Support: Support business units in automating manual processes by providing efficient and secure database solutions.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or its equivalent.
- Oracle Certified Associate (OCA).
- ITIL Foundation certification preferred.
- Proficiency in PL/SQL Programming.
- Knowledge of Flexcube Core banking system is an added advantage.
- Proven experience with Microsoft Windows SQL Databases.
- Working knowledge of Opensource Databases (e.g., PostgreSQL, MongoDB
- Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in database administration, preferably within the banking or financial services sector.
- Proven experience in programming and designing Business Intelligence (BI) and reporting solutions.
- Extensive experience in managing and supporting Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle Database environments.
- Strong knowledge of Windows and Linux/Unix Server operating systems.
- Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.
- Consistently approaches work with energy and a positive, constructive attitude.
- Superior organization and communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent monitoring skills.
