Background

atoto is seeking to recruit a Dental Nurse to deliver quality and efficient dental services on the Watoto Children's villages.

Key Duties and Responsibilities (but not limited to).

  • Deliver nursing care to dental patients in accordance with Watoto Medical Services protocols and Uganda National Nursing guidelines.
  • Conduct appropriate triage of dental patients, and provide emergency treatment as needed.
  • Furnish patients with post-operative instructions for oral care following surgery or dental procedures.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive reporting records in accordance with Watoto Medical Services and Ministry of Health guidelines.
  • Ensure timely placement of drug orders and maintain clear accountability for prescribed medications.
  • Dispense prescribed medicines appropriately to dental patients and keep accurate records of drug stocks in the dental clinic.
  • Uphold diligent standards of sterility and infection control within the dental clinic
  • Maintain a patient and family-centred approach in all interactions with patients and their families.
  • Provide assistance to dentists during dental procedures.
  • Conduct and promote standardised oral health education sessions for Watoto clients.

Qualifications, Skills, and Experience.

  • The applicant for the role should hold at least a Diploma in nursing.
  • Must be a registered practitioner with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
  • At least two years' experience in dental practice.
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to relate well to children of all ages.
  • Passionate about community health care with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Commitment to working within standardised guidelines.
