Specific Roles and Responsibilities of the Position

The successful candidate will be expected to perform the following tasks with respect to this position:

1. Operating Machinery

• Setup and Operation: Setting up machines at the beginning of a shift and ensuring they operate correctly throughout the production process.
• Control and Adjust: Adjusting machine settings (e.g., speed, temperature, pressure) to meet production specifications and optimise performance.

2. Ensuring Quality

• Monitoring Quality: Continuously monitoring the output to ensure it meets quality standards and specifications.
• Inspecting Products: Performing regular inspections and testing of finished products to identify and rectify defects or inconsistencies.

3. Maintaining Efficiency

• Maximising Productivity: Operating machines at optimal efficiency to maximise production output and minimise downtime.
• Troubleshooting: Identifying and troubleshooting minor machine issues to prevent production delays.

4. Safety Compliance

• Following Safety Protocols: Adhering to all safety guidelines and protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
• Using PPE: Wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and ensuring safety measures are in place.

5. Maintenance and Upkeep

• Routine Maintenance: Performing basic maintenance tasks, such as cleaning and lubricating machinery, to keep machines in good working condition.
• Reporting Issues: Reporting any significant mechanical problems or malfunctions to the plant engineer for prompt repair.

6. Record Keeping

• Documenting Production: Keeping accurate records of production quantities, machine performance, and any issues encountered during operation.
• Logging Maintenance: Documenting maintenance activities and any repairs performed on the machinery.

7. Supporting Continuous Improvement

• Suggesting Improvements: Providing feedback and suggestions for process improvements to enhance efficiency, quality, and safety.
• Participating in Training: Engaging in ongoing training and development to stay updated with new techniques, equipment, and safety procedures.

8. Coordination and Communication

• Collaborating with Team: Working closely with other operators, supervisors, and maintenance staff to ensure smooth production processes.
