On behalf of Our client in the manufacturing sector, we are looking for a competent and experienced EHS Officer (Environment, Health and Safety Officer) to be based in Kampala
Reports To: Operations Manager
Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda.
Job Summary: The EHS Officer (Environment, Health and Safety Officer) is responsible for designing, developing and implementing all Health and safety programs and activities in the company.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Design, Develop and Implement all Environment, Health and Safety programs and activities including written programs, training, auditing and drills, hygiene monitoring and Ergonomic evaluations
- Carry out Risk assessments/ Job safety analysis for all the various tasks/ activities performed at the Plant.
- Carryout Accident/ Incident reporting & investigation at the Plant for all incidents/Accidents to staff, contractors and Visitors on site.
- Conduct Safety Inductions, trainings and scheduled drills for all the personnel.
- Ensure Plant Inspections are carried out for all key sections in the Plant.
- Ensure the Plant complies to all statutory requirements
- Work closely with Production teams to develop safety processes and procedures
- Develop and manage training matrix for annual safety and compliance training
- Manage record keeping of all requisite Occupational Safety and Health and hazardous material permits
- Partnering with Human Resource on case management and serve as point of contact for all Environment, Health and Safety matters with agencies and inspectors
- Ensuring that the company implements Environment Management system (ISO 14001) and Quality Management certification (ISO 9001)
- Any other duties as may be assigned by management.
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Safety & Health or a related field
- Postgraduate diploma or certifications in OSHA, ISO, First Aid/Fire Safety Training is an added advantage
- 2+ years in a similar role within the manufacturing industry
- Technical and Regulatory Knowledge
