Job Environment: The FTTH Passive Network Designer reports to the FTTH UGANDA Passive Network Design Manager. The position is based at GVA UGANDA's headquarters in KAMPALA.

 Missions of the position: The FTTH Passive Network Design Manager carries out the design of GVA's FTTH network and the realization of the reference documents of the network inventory (Pre-Project, As-Built) by ensuring compliance with the delivery schedules of the designs and design rules. It also carries out the documentary update of the network inventory (as-built) throughout the life of the network.

 Its main missions will be:

  • Carries out the design of the passive FTTH network of GVA UGANDA (realization, in GIS and CAD format, of the Documents of Preliminary Design Summary and Detailed of the FTTH GVA network)
  • Production of deliverables in compliance with the project and deployment schedule· Compliance with Sizing rules and design of the FTTH passive network and works on the quality of the documentation produced
  • Continuous updating of network inventory and OSP/ISP network design reference documents according to network life
  • Contributes to the analysis of geo-marketing studies, topographic surveys and geo-referencing of infrastructures relevant to deployment
  • Contributes to studies and analyses allowing the technical and financial optimization of ftth network deployment, depending on the differences in urban topology and geographical constraints of the areas to be deployed
  • In partnership with the OSP teams of GVA and the service provider, validates the technical aspect of temporary and final maintenance.
  • In partnership with the OSP teams, participates in the development of the planning of the GVA Patrol teams and/or the service provider in order to maintain the network in excellent operational conditions.

Requirements

Training, work experience and required skills:

  • Experience + / - 3 years of project engineer and / or design manager in a design office, a telecom operator or a deployment company.
  • Higher education type Engineering School or equivalent University (Master level)
  • Strong knowledge in the use of GIS software, Auto cad, and Excel
  • Mastery of technical constraints related to fixed telecommunications networks and FTTH networks in particular
  • Knowledge of project management
  • Fluency in French and English
