Human Capital Business Solutions Ltd is hiring a Finance Associate responsible for supporting HCBS Limited’s financial management, accounting operations, statutory compliance, treasury administration, and financial reporting. The role ensures the integrity of financial information, timely processing of financial transactions, and maintenance of strong internal controls to support business growth and decision-making.

Key Responsibilities

A. Financial Accounting

  • Maintain complete and accurate accounting records.
  • Process journals, receipts, payments and accounting adjustments.
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations.
  • Reconcile supplier and customer accounts.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Manage petty cash.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities.
  • Ensure proper filing of accounting documentation.

B. Accounts Receivable

  • Prepare client invoices.
  • Monitor collections and ageing analysis.
  • Follow up outstanding invoices.
  • Maintain debtor reconciliations.
  • Issue customer statements.
  • Support contract billing and milestone invoicing.

C. Accounts Payable

  • Verify supplier invoices.
  • Prepare payment vouchers.
  • Process supplier payments.
  • Maintain supplier reconciliations.
  • Ensure procurement documentation supports all payments.
  • Monitor outstanding commitments.

D. Payroll Administration

  • Process monthly payroll using Odoo ERP.
  • Prepare payroll reconciliations.
  • Process statutory deductions.
  • Generate pay slips.
  • Maintain payroll records.
  • Support annual payroll reporting.

E. Statutory Compliance

  • Coordinate timely submission of:
    • PAYE
    • NSSF
    • VAT
    • Withholding Tax
    • Income Tax instalments
    • URA returns
    • Other statutory filings
  • Ensure compliance with applicable tax legislation and regulatory requirements.

F. Budgeting & Financial Planning

  • Assist in annual budgeting.
  • Monitor departmental budgets.
  • Perform variance analysis.
  • Support financial forecasting.
  • Monitor project profitability.
  • Track utilisation of consulting assignments.

G. Project Finance

  • Support financial management of consulting projects by:
    • Tracking project budgets.
    • Monitoring project costs.
    • Reviewing staff utilisation.
    • Monitoring project margins.
    • Supporting project invoicing.
    • Preparing financial reports for project managers.

Qualifications

Education

Bachelor’s Degree in:

  • Accounting
  • Finance
  • Commerce
  • Business Administration (Accounting Option)

Professional Qualifications

Preferred:

  • CPA Uganda Level I minimum

Experience

  • 2–3 years’ finance or accounting experience.
  • Experience within consulting, professional services or advisory firms is an advantage.
  • Experience using ERP systems (preferably Odoo).
  • Experience preparing statutory returns.
  • Experience supporting audits.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
