Under the supervision of the Head of Finance, the finance manager will lead the financial planning and reporting process. This involves developing budgets, forecasting financial performance and ensuring accurate, timely financial reporting and compliance with all donor and statutory requirements.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial Planning and Budgeting:
● Support the Head of Finance in developing and executing financial strategies aligned with the organization’s goals.
● Lead and oversee the annual budgeting process for the entire organization.
● Collaborate with various departments and programs heads to ensure budget alignment to organization goals and build a culture of financial literacy among non-finance staff.
● Provide accurate and timely financial forecasts based on industry trends and company performance.
● Collaborate with the program teams to develop and monitor project budgets.
● Monitor budget performance and provide regular updates to budget holders and senior management.
Financial Reporting
● Prepare and present accurate and timely financial reports to the management, donors, and regulatory authorities.
● Ensure compliance with financial reporting standards, both internally and externally.
● Develop and maintain cost allocation methods that are consistent with international practice and donor guidelines.
● Prepare and present financial analysis and key insights on financial performance identifying growth opportunities or cost-saving measures to aid decision-making.
● Conduct detailed variance analysis between budget and actual financial results, identifying key drivers and recommending corrective actions every month.
● Evaluating and recommending improvements to financial systems/ tools to enhance efficiency, data integrity, and automation
Compliance and Risk Management:
● Ensure compliance with all financial regulations and guidelines. These include international financial reporting standards, BRAC's internal policies and guidelines, Income Tax Act, Companies Act and other country regulations.
● Develop and implement risk management strategies to safeguard the NGO's financial assets.
● Coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring the provision of accurate and necessary information.
● Address all audit findings and implement improvements to internal controls.
Donor Relations:
● Work closely with the program teams to prepare accurate and comprehensive financial reports for donors.
● Maintain strong relationships with donors, addressing their financial inquiries and requirements.
● Ensure that funds are allocated and utilized in line with donor agreements.
Team Leadership:
Supervise, mentor and coach the finance team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture and work environment.
Provide training and development opportunities to enhance team capabilities.
Carry out bi-annual performance reviews for the finance team according to the HR policy.
SAFEGUARDING ROLES
Ensure the safety of team members from any harm, abuse, neglect, harassment and exploitation to achieve the program’s goals on safeguarding implementation. Act as a key source of support, guidance and expertise on safeguarding for establishing a safe working environment. Practice, promote and endorse the issues of safeguarding policy among team members and ensure the implementation of safeguarding standards in every course of action. Follow the safeguarding reporting procedure in case any reportable incident takes place, encourage others to do so.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
A bachelor's degree in Finance, accounting, economics, Business administration, a professional qualification in CPA, ACCA or related and a postgraduate diploma in finance, economics, business administration or related is an added advantage
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
At least 5-7 years of progressively responsible experience in Finance, accounting budgeting, financial planning, and analysis and donor fund reporting in a reputable organization, preferably in the NGO set up.
SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES
● Proficiency in creating, managing, and monitoring budgets.
● Knowledge of financial reporting standards and the ability to generate accurate financial reports.
● Knowledge of donor funding, grant management, and compliance requirements.
● Skill in preparing accurate and timely financial reports for internal and external stakeholders.
● Proficiency in using financial management software and tools
● Strong communication skills to convey financial information to non-financial staff and external stakeholders.
● Maintaining the highest ethical standards in financial management.
● Attention to detail
Competence in managing grants, ensuring compliance, and reporting to donors
